[edit] Welcome to the Wikipedia!
Hello, and Welcome to the Wikipedia, Ladlergo! Thanks for weighing in over on the Neanderthal article discussion. Hope you enjoy editing here and becoming a Wikipedian! Here are a few perfunctory tips to hasten your acculturation into the Wikipedia experience:
- Take a look at the Wikipedia Tutorial and Manual of Style.
- When you have time, please peruse The five pillars of Wikipedia, and assume good faith, but keep in mind the unique style you brought to the Wiki!
- Always be mindful of striving for NPOV, be respectful of others' POV, and remember your perspective on the meaning of neutrality is invaluable!
- If you need any help, post your question at the Help Desk.
- Explore, be bold in editing, and, above all else, have fun!
And some odds and ends: Boilerplate text, Brilliant prose, Cite your sources, Civility, Conflict resolution, How to edit a page, How to write a great article, Pages needing attention, Peer review, Policy Library, Utilities, Verifiability, Village pump, and Wikiquette; also, you can sign your name on any page by typing 4 tildes: ~~~~.
Best of luck, Ladlergo, and most importantly, have fun! Ombudsman 23:17, 22 February 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Katherine Lee Bates
Hm.. sorry for reverting the edits by that anonymous user - I assumed a bad faith edit by the looks of that radical date change - though last I checked Newton North did not exist one hundred years ago. There is likely false information somewhere - perhaps she wasn't an alumnus at all? Do you know of information that points her to being an alumnus of Newton North? CowmanTalk 05:55, 11 March 2006 (UTC)
- After doing a quick lookup, I find that Katherine graduated from Newton High School, the predecessor to Newton North. Now the question is if it is the predecessor, is it not a different school? I suppose I'll add that to the talk page. Also, answers.com seems to have numerous other alumni of Newton North and South listed, which could fill up the section more. I'll probably see to that a bit once I'm more awake. CowmanTalk 06:05, 11 March 2006 (UTC)
- I'm of two minds about people who graduated from Newton High School. Should they be listed under both Newton North and Newton South, or should they be listed under neither and be kept only in the Newton MA list of notables? Ladlergo 13:44, 11 March 2006 (UTC)
- Well, it does seem redundant to have listing of 'famous' people in both of these schools and almost seems a sort of popularity contest between them. I doubt anyone would mind a change like that, though I'll put up the proposition on the talk pages for a few days before doing anything drastic. CowmanTalk 14:45, 11 March 2006 (UTC)
- Meh, I really should look these things up before I do anything - the city of Newton page is already filled with them, so there is no reason to have this all listed more than once. Having each person listed more than once in each school promotes a non-neutral point of view as it is, so I'll just move them and leave a note in the talk about it. CowmanTalk 14:47, 11 March 2006 (UTC)
- Having gone to NNHS, I can tell you that there is a rivalry between the schools. Friendly rivalry, but still one that leads to stupid e-penis contests. Ladlergo 16:48, 13 March 2006 (UTC)

I have an account. I used be on here more. I'll see if i can remember it.
[edit] FF:CC for Wii
Last I checked, it was still a launch title. Has the date changed? Ladlergo 13:00, 17 May 2006 (UTC)
- Honestly, I've looked, but I just could not find a source for FF:CC being a launch title. If you can, feel free to add the launch title references back to the Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers article, with a source cite. --Codemonkey 13:05, 17 May 2006 (UTC)
- http://revolution.ign.com/articles/705/705607p1.html This is the source I have. As soon as I can find the proper way of listing launch dates for games into the summary box, I'll add it as a reference. Ladlergo 13:07, 17 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Key Titles for Wii
Can you check the list in the Wii talk page and see if it is acceptable. I have changed alot to the list and I think it could work.--DivineShadow218 02:40, 27 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] your vandalism to ID
Please do not replace Wikipedia pages or sections with blank content. It is considered vandalism. Please use the sandbox for any other tests you want to do. Take a look at the welcome page if you would like to learn more about contributing to our encyclopedia. Thanks. , please also see WP:NPA--F.O.E. 13:03, 31 May 2006 (UTC)
- Considering that I consider your trolling vandalism and I looked for the policy that would clear up the matter, I felt justified in removing it, figuring that it would be reinstated if my assumption was not correct.
- Please remember that Wikipedia is not a soapbox. Ladlergo 13:06, 31 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] F.O.E.
I have no proof, I just find it stricking that this user makes very quickly three templates. This is generally, but not always, something that newbies do not do. However, he has been bashed enough today, and if he keeps contributing the way he does, I see a lot of frustration at wikipedia for him. He has not been active for some hours now, just let it be for the time being. The devisve templates are either deleted or tagged for deletion, and the edits he did are undone. Maybe he will get the picture and mellow out a bit. -- Kim van der Linde at venus 16:39, 31 May 2006 (UTC)
- To add, the user is also wuite familiar with policies, something we generally have to explain to newbies, not to be chastenised with.... :-)-- Kim van der Linde at venus 16:40, 31 May 2006 (UTC)
- I thought of that as well. I really hope we're not dealing with a sockpuppet, and that he's merely overzealous. Ladlergo 16:45, 31 May 2006 (UTC)
- If you want to see if it is a sockpuppet, check the edit histories of the article he contributed to and see who made kind of similar remarks. That might be the fastest way. -- Kim van der Linde at venus 16:50, 31 May 2006 (UTC)

Since you've tried to resolve the issue with Ed, I thought you'd might like to participate in his user conduct RFC: Wikipedia:Requests_for_comment/Ed_Poor_(2) and certify the basis for the dispute by signing the appropriate section. Thanks for your efforts. FeloniousMonk 20:53, 31 May 2006 (UTC)

I would suggest leaving Butchpenton alone; he's not too interested in civil behavior and I doubt your efforts will bear much fruit. Yours, Sdedeo (tips) 15:02, 1 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Draft Biologo
It's been a struggle to get six images at two disparate scales into one wee box: this is a draft, if it's on the right lines I can always try to improve things a bit. Let me know what you think, ..dave souza, talk 14:27, 13 June 2006 (UTC)
- by the way, source images for the microbeasties from Protist, Archaea and Common Features of All Cells, though any resemblance may be coincidental. dave souza, talk 14:48, 13 June 2006 (UTC)
- I like the microbes. I see what you mean about preserving any semblance of scale while not reducing some of them to blobs. Maybe the number of kingdoms should be reduced.
- I'll take a crack at drawing a few leaves today. Not enough work to do. ;) Ladlergo 15:00, 13 June 2006 (UTC)
- I've drawn a ginko and something that was outside. I hope they'll scan and reduce well. Ladlergo 16:11, 13 June 2006 (UTC)
- If you want to try emailing me full size scan(s) I can add another layer or two to the Photoshop Elements pic I have at 690 pixels square, then reduce it to 128 pixels again. Best not to be too elaborate at that size, of course. I can redo or modify the other images as required, but things still a bit hectic here so it may take a while. ..dave souza, talk 17:23, 13 June 2006 (UTC)
- The images have been scanned. I haven't been able to find your e-mail address. Mine is [my user name here] at gmail. Ladlergo 03:48, 14 June 2006 (UTC)
- Sorry, should have said to email a Wikipedian, go to their userpage and click on the "email this user" link in the Toolbox section on the left, under the globe logo. ..Anyway, check your in tray. ..dave souza, talk 08:34, 14 June 2006 (UTC)

<rather long break> Sorry I've been a bit busy, have now put together a wee image which you should see above, replacing the earlier draft. If you like I'll produce an alternative using the ginko leaf with the other elements, and if the style doesn't match well enough you could do your own drawings of the mushroom and the beastie, and email them to me for inclusion. Hope that's some help, ..dave souza, talk 09:06, 11 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] RE: Gankutsuou Debray/Dupré/Depré
Just for your knowledge, in the final episode, it has all of Albert's loved one's in the credits, the first is Duprè, which is spelled dopuree in romanji. And i think Depré was an error on my part. Alex anaya
[edit] Professor Rubinstein
Hello Ladlergo, Jewish organizations have a history of being very active in Separation of Church and State issues [[1]]. However, as you know, the current insertion of membership by religion in the ACLU article is for derogatory purposes. Professor Rubinstein's data will likely reflect a Jewish concern over the the violation of the Bill of Rights. So, if his data is correct and were to be included it would be included in a positive light if at all, rather than the current attempts that are purely attempts at negative propaganda. Peace--Scribner 22:15, 21 July 2006 (UTC)
- I added it to show that the events in Toledo Ohio did not have a negative effect on Jewish membership within the party. I feel that it is very beneficial to add to clarify this. I think the line is perfect because it says that Jews within the party were estimated to represent two thirds of the organization in 1982 (4-5 years after the events of the ACLU defending Nazis) so this shows that it didnt have a lasting impact. I believe this is important to have. Did you receive a response yet? Civil Libertarian 23:17, 23 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] procon.org links in voting articles...
The links to procon.org in voting articles are good additions. Can you tell me why you are reverting them? -- Joebeone (Talk) 03:08, 25 July 2006 (UTC)
- There is very little original content on Procon.org, with almost all of it being a collection of quotes by other people. If you wish to add them back, go ahead, though I suggest that you check that the pages are noteworthy. However, user:Proconorg adding them counts as linkspamming. Ladlergo 12:57, 25 July 2006 (UTC)
-
- Yes, please explain why you let a link to this site (http://www.topix.net/news/aclu), an obvious spam site with no original content remain on the ACLU article, but removed the procon link. Your behavior seems inconsistent and counterproductive. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.106.87.79 (talk • contribs)

- While it may contain no original content outside the messageboard, Topix us highly useful as an archive of articles. ProCon.org is mainly a collection of quotes.
- In addition, the link has been there for over a year. Considering that it is a fairly active article, I believe that shows the general approval of the editors for the link.
- I believe that ProCon.org could be useful for providing references, but am unsure that it belongs in the collection of links. Ladlergo 17:28, 25 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] On Silkroad Online
Nope, what you rewrote isn't accurate (altough I won't fix it for now, unless you fix it first). Acting as a Thief reduces Hunter and Trader experience, and acting both as a Hunter or Trader reduces Thief experience. However, acting as a Trader won't reduce Hunter experience or vice versa... Thanks for the concern, tough. I'm rewriting the article and sometimes I miss a word or two, like "Experienced". =) --201.66.60.125 18:58, 8 August 2006 (UTC)
Replying your message (sorry, never done this before), the Job System is almost the heart of the game and the most advertised feature. I don't know if removing it would be good or not, but if removed a new section dedicated to jobs would have to be done (just brief, I'm trying to make an article that someone that never played understands). --201.66.60.125 19:11, 8 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Cover-up?
[2]. It appears from this your talk page that you have a history of initiating this type of dispute, the circumstances of the previous occasion being less clearly annotated. --Etaonsh 11:33, 20 August 2006 (UTC)
- Huh? I have no idea what you're talking about. I deleted the paragraph that was not about Schizophrenia, but was commentary about posting it. That should have been placed on the talk page, if at anywhere at all. Ladlergo 14:43, 20 August 2006 (UTC)
- The section was specifically about 'recovery and rehabilitation' from schizophrenia, a somewhat dark and elusive topic which had previously escaped the attentions of previous editors, and one which fuels doubts about the scientific soundness of the diagnosis. Given the political implications, I found it odd and suspicious that my Internet connection, normally problem-free, happened to play up on three occasions while trying to post the new section. But in either case, it illustrated how such setbacks, be they random and technical or planned and conspiratorial, contributed towards undermining recovery. You seem to wish to be part of said setbacks(?). --Etaonsh 16:33, 20 August 2006 (UTC)
- Huh? I had just started looking at the article for a friend (who's in China, btw, can't access WP there) and noticed that it was out of place. I'm really not sure how I would like to record that three previous attempts to add this section fell prey to computer/Internet glitches, which seems somehow relevant here is in any way relevant to the section of the article, which was about recovery and rehabilitation? I saw something that didn't belong in the article and I removed it.
- By the way, I smoothed that section a bit, as it felt a bit wordy to me. You are welcome to revert it if you feel I changed the content in any way. Ladlergo 00:35, 21 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Article about Wikipedia Users
Hello,
I am a freelance writer working on an article about the wide array of people who make Wikipedia their life, their passion, their pastime. Wikipedia “addicts” if you will. I’m looking for people just willing to tell their story of how they got sucked into the intellectual whirlwind that is Wikipedia, how you got started editing, how the obsession grew, and what you spend your time focusing on these days? Do you write articles from scratch? Is your main push toward one particular type of article? Do you patrol for typos and errors, or spend your time diligently fixing vandalism? Do you take part in the “social aspects” of Wikipedia; engaging in animated discussions or decorating your user page with all sorts of internet memes? Have you forced yourself to take a “Wikipedia break”? If so, what’s your 20/20 hindsight on the obsession? Basically I’m just trying to get an idea of what it’s like for various Wikipedia “addicts.” If you are interested in participating, please email me at brianrhodges@gmail.com
If anybody else, other than this user is interested in participating, feel free to email me as well. This article is intended to be a light informational piece, nothing too heavy or controversial, just merely introducing readers to a subculture that they likely had no idea existed. So please don’t email me with your conspiracy theories, or your grudge against the Wikipedia hierarchy… unless it directly applies to your overall experience with the site. This article is about the USERS, not about the pros and cons of the site itself.
Thanks,

[edit] Gankutusou Stuff
I just now saw your comment on my talk page, months after the fact. I have a bad habit of not logging in for a long time. Anyway if you come back from your break and see this, know that I do still consider it an interesting idea to have some sort of comprehensive different list, but I'm honestly probably too busy and not disciplined enough to undertake such a project, since I imagine I will not be able to finish it. If you were interested in some sort of collaboration, I would be willing to give that a go, though, since it would be less overall work and more incentive to get it done (I'm likelier to get something done if others depend on me to, heh). --Lord Shitzu 20:38, 25 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Gankutsuou_promotional.jpg
Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Gankutsuou_promotional.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Rettetast 22:01, 19 July 2007 (UTC)
