Construction of this Lada was started in 1996 by AvtoVAZ. It is somewhat more modern and luxurious-looking than the traditional Ladas. This car is relatively popular in Russia today, though many potential buyers are sceptical, not trusting the quality. It has a 1.6 GTI engine with almost 90 hp (67 kW). Weight is around 1050 kilos (2315 lb).
It has never been sold in Britain, but other parts of Europe - including France and Turkey - have been offered this Lada.
