[edit] Welcome

Welcome to my user page. My user name stands for "Lactose the Intolerant." This refers to my intolerance of vandalism, personal attacks, and other harmful behavior.

[edit] Links Where You Can Help

Pages to watch; if you can't think of what to do, where you can help Wikipedia--details to be added:

  • Wikipedia:Possibly unfree images - One of the easiest mistakes for new users to make is to include pictures that are not free. It's less obvious, perhaps, to them than copying and pasting text from other sources, and Wikipedia has quite strict policy guidelines on what kinds of images are allowed.
  • Wikipedia:Personal attack intervention noticeboard - One area editors without administrator rights can help. This area seems a bit less monitored than the vandalism reporting site. Personal attacks harm Wikipedia since they discourage editors from participating, even if they are not the ones being attacked. Editors reporting problems here may feel particularly hurt or embarrassed based on the attacks. Furthermore, they may be new and be unfamiliar with the warning procedures. Oftentimes even a mild warning to the person making the attacks will fix the problem entirely (you'd be surprised!)

[edit] Favorite Anti-Vandal Software

  • VandalProof Requires permission
  • Lupin's Anti-Vandal Tool
  • RC patrol script
  • In addition to the above tools, I use a (currently) nameless piece of custom software to help me identify vandalized pages, written in VC++. It's currently an early alpha, but picks out a few vandalized pages I didn't find with the above methods.
