Lactoris fernandeziana Phil. |
Lactoris fernandeziana is a species of flowering plants and the sole species of its family, the Lactoridaceae. The plant is endemic to the cloud forest of Masatierra, on the Juan Fernández Islands.
This is a putative primitive paleoherb, whose biology is little known. Its systematic position remains controversial, the species was variably assigned to the Magnoliales, the Laurales, the Piperales or given its own order.
