Lackland Independent School District
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Lackland Independent School District is a public school district based in San Antonio, Texas (USA).
The district's boundaries are coterminous with Lackland Air Force Base, and it only draws students who reside within the installation. However, it answers to the Texas Education Agency, not the U.S. Department of Defense, and functions much like any other Texas school district. Additionally, children of Lackland military members residing off base are zoned to the district and school that their residence is assigned to; in most cases they do not attend Lackland ISD schools.
Lackland ISD is one of three school districts in the state whose boundaries are coterminous with a military installation; the other two (also in the San Antonio area) are Randolph Field and Fort Sam Houston.
