From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Lac-Simon is an Indian reserve in Abitibi-Témiscamingue, Quebec. Basically at N45.54 to N46 and W75.03 to W75.06
There are also a number of residential cottages and summer houses around the lake. It is about 15 miles long and 2 miles wide with a large island containing a smaller pond itself. There are several small islands on it, some of which are large enough to camp on.
The south end of the lake is close to the town of Chénéville, while the north end is close to a small village, Duhamel.
There is a sunken aircraft somewhere in a deep part of the northeast end that broke through the ice and overturned one winter before 1975 and perhaps in the 50's. It was said to be heading to a monastery in the area when it went down.
The return of Deer to the area was featured in an episode of Lorne Greene's New Wilderness in the mid-1980s.
Several Age of Mythology maps have been made based on the lake, which the author of the maps knew as a teen. They can only be found at the Vandhaal's website.
