[edit] New Article

Stickers are not only labels for manufacturing products and what not. There are stickers in stores that are merely for sticker albums, scrapbooks, and decorating various objects. This article seems to focus mainly on labels, which makes sense seeing as it is called "Label"; however, if the term sticker redirects to this page then this page should either focus on stickers as well as labels, or, a new page should be made for only stickers. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Skittles16 (talk • contribs) 01:16, 23 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Security

They're not only used for labeling stuff so you know what is what. Tamper-proof stickers are also used for security. To prevent someone from opening something, example a computer case. They can say "Warranty void if seal is removed." or something like that. If you attempt to remove the sticker, it can be very difficult or it can print on the material "Voided!" after the sticker is removed.

[edit] Holographic

There are holographic stickers used for authentication and protection against counterfeit. They can be used on ID cards, credit cards, products such as CD's, etc.

[edit] Managing art-work for your labels

When purchasing labels, it is wise to maintain control of your artwork by maintaining a copy at all times. When you purchase labels for the first time, you will usally be required to pay for "Pre-Press Charges". This is for printing plate(s). However If you want to move your label business to another vendor, it is better to provide them with a copy of the art-work rather than to ask your old vendor for the printing plates back. If you have a copy of your art, you are able to go wherever you want without any difficulty.

[edit] Stickers that slowly turn transparent

I've seen/used stickers that turn transparent over a 12(?)-hour period, revealing red text saying "Expired" beneath. These stickers can be removed and replaced the next day. Is there a generalized name for this? Thanks! — Xoder| 19:23, 27 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Neutrality!

I've taken down the anti-Bush sticker. It violates NPOV, it is in poor taste, and it is a poor representation. TheListUpdater 01:06, 14 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Not all tags use adhesive. Should sewn-on tags apply here?

Should the first line say: A label is any kind of tag attached (often with an adhesive) to something so as to identify the object or its contents.

Instead of: A label is any kind of tag attached with adhesive to something so as to identify the object or its contents.
