Labirent

Labirent (Labyrinth in English) is a progressive rock band formed in Ankara, Turkey, in 1987. In the early times of rock music in Turkey, when the style was considered very strange and was treated by many as a piece of rubbish, two brave musicians, Serhat Koçak and Yavuz Selim Sarıcı founded this band and introduced the concept of “Progressive Rock Music” to the Turkish music market. In 1992, guitarist Volkan Unluer [1] joined the band, and the core line-up took its present shape. They tried very hard and finally achieved to extend their musical perspective, powerful music and sounds on many national TV and radio stations countrywide and in 1997 their first album Çağın Harikası ("Miracle of the Century") was released. They made a symphonic rock performance “which was a first in Turkey” as a rock band performing with a Gazi University Symphony Orchestra on the Turkish National TV Channel TRT. Nowadays the band members are continuing their musical careers with their solo projects mostly but as a band they still keep their position in Turkish rock music history and hold a great place in the memories of the generation of the 1980s in Turkey, especially in Ankara.
