La Unión is a city and commune in southern Chile administered by the municipality of La Unión. The city is also the capital of Ranco Province of Los Ríos Region. La Unión was founded in 1821 during the government of Bernardo O'Higgins, to secure sovereignty over the Central Valley south of Valdivia.

La Unión is a major centre for milk production. COLUN is the main milk and dairy product producer in the zone. It's products are milk, yoghurts and cheeses. La Union is surrounded by an extraordinary and exhuberant Landscape. Between the hills of the "Cordillera de la Costa"(coast mountain chain), a lot of incredibly old Larches, older even than 300.000 years, grow deep in the valdivian forest. Lakes, rivers and mountains are part of this beautiful place.
