Using the Ryu, the spaceship she acquired in Les Exilés de Kifa, Yoko and her friends discover the remains of Ultima, one of the Vinean colonies established during the evacuation as described in Le Trio de l'étrange. Once there, they quickly get mixed up in an intrigue involving technologically forced reincarnation and the interchangeability of souls between individuals.
