The French Cinema's Resistance Network (Réseau de Résistance du Cinéma Français) was created in late 1940 following the Fall of France and the German occupation.[2]
Between 1943-1944 the Resistance Network shot the life and combats of the Maquis du Vercors bessieged by Germans occupation troops and released it as a propaganda short documentary titled In the heart of the Thunderstorm (Au cœur de l'Orage) directed by Jean-Paul Le Chanois.[3]
From August 16 to August 27 1944 during the battle for Paris, small units of the Resistance Network shot on location, developed and edited l'insurrection Nationale inséparable de la Libération Nationale ("the national insurrection inseparable from the national liberation") that would become La Libération de Paris ("the liberation of Paris") once released in theaters in the following days.[4]
