La Coupe is a Group 3 flat horse race in France open to four-year-old and above thoroughbreds. It is run over a distance of 2,000 metres (approximately 1¼ miles) at Longchamp Racecourse and takes place annually, presently in June.

It is named after the original trophy, an objet d'art which was worth 10,000 francs when the race was first run in 1865. The trophy continued to be awarded until 1994.

In its early years the race was contested over 3,200 metres, which was cut to 3,000 metres in 1895. This distance remained unchanged until 1969, when it was reduced to 2,600 metres. Further modifications have since followed, to 2,400 metres in 1980, 2,100 metres in 1991 and to the present length in 1993.

The current age restrictions were introduced in 1969, prior to which three-year-olds could also participate.

The race has taken place away from Longchamp several times. During World War II there were runnings at Tremblay (1943) and Maisons-Laffitte (1944–45). More recently La Coupe has been temporarily switched to Chantilly (1980, 1982–83, 1985–86), Saint-Cloud (1994, 1996) and Evry (1995).
