[edit] Notability of Toy-tik (punk,alternative,nu metal rock/rap/hiphop)

A tag has been placed on Toy-tik (punk, alternative,nu metal rock/rap/hiphop), requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Realkyhick 16:19, 22 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Gabane

I noticed that you together with two IPs (possibly both you, too) tried to add Gabane to Category:Villages in Botswana... well, the categories do not work quite like that. Gabane was not in the category because there was no such article then. I have been slowly creating short articles for villages in Botswana, so I made one for Gabane, too. It's a very short article, but it's a start, anyway.

Looking at the messages here, it looks like you wanted to add an article about a band. Bands can be quite tricky as far as the notability is concerned. Most bands are simply not notable enough to have article here on Wikipedia, and even if they actually were notable, proving it will not be easy especially with bands based in Africa. Generally I think the best way would be creating the article as a subpage in your user space, e.g. User:La'teen/Sweet-circle and then seeking help and opinions from experienced editors before moving it to main space.

Anyway, feel free to drop me a message on my talk page, if you have any questions or need help! – Sadalmelik (talk) 20:10, 17 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] January 2008

Welcome to Wikipedia. Please do not remove speedy deletion tags from pages that you have created yourself, as you did with S.C.A.R‎. If you do not believe the page should be deleted, then please place {{hangon}} on the page (please do not remove any existing speedy deletion tag) and make your case on the page's talk page. Administrators will look at your reasoning before deciding what to do with the page. Thank you. SWik78 (talk) 16:43, 18 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Categories

I have reverted your edits to Category:Botswana musicians. If you look at the bottom of Franco and Afro Musica, you will see I have added [[Category:Botswana musicians]] there (I also copyedited it a bit): this text in the article will add it correctly to Category:Botswana musicians. Oh, and those things between {{ and }} are templates. Adding {{Botswana-bio-stub}} in the article bottom would have added it in Category:Botswanan people stubs, but since Franco and Afro Musica is largely about the band, I think that would not be completely accurate. But yes, articles are added to categories by editing the text of the article. I suppose I should have explained this before, but it's easier now that we have an example article at hand...

Congratulations for your first article! . I'm sure this one will stay in Wikipedia. – Sadalmelik (talk) 22:55, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
