L. J. K. Setright

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Leonard John Kensell Setright (10 August 19317 September 2005) born in London was an English motoring journalist and author[1]. Born of Australian parents he studied Law at University College, London. He practiced for a time but hated it. He had wanted to pursue a career in the Air Force but poor eyesight prevented this. He therefore worked in a control tower position at an airport.

He later became a motoring journalist espousing the virtues of Honda and Bristol cars amongst other things. His writing style polarised readers as some considered it to be pompous and containing excessively esoteric quotes. He also wrote about High Fidelity sound systems. He lived in Surbiton.

His love of tobacco resulted in him developing lung cancer, to which he succumbed.

Setright was a practising Jew throughout his life.[1]
