Talk:L'enfant terrible

[edit] Metal Gear Solid

I just removed the reference at the end about Metal Gear Solid. I love the game, but it was painfully out of place and added absolutely nothing to the article. If you disagree, please explain what value the statement adds to the article.

Removed: "In the innovative "Playstation" game "Metal Gear Solid", Solid Snake and Liquid Snake are created from the DNA of Big Boss in The Les Enfants Terribles Project."

[edit] Etymology?

Websters gives 1851 as the date of the first occurrence of the term enfant terrible (not l'enfant terrible) in English. How, then, does this date fit with the assertion that "Its use was coined by Thomas Jefferson to describe Pierre Charles L'Enfant" -- given that Jefferson died in 1826?

Somebody needs to provide a source for that paragraph, or it should be removed. Also, the normal expression is enfant terrible. Websters online gives only that form -- no entry for l'enfant terrible. Is it possible that the article has deliberately been named l'enfant terrible to conform with the theory that the expression relates to Pierre Charles L'Enfant? (Note after checking out page history: In fact, the article was originally at enfant terrible, and moved to l'enfant terrible by the same user who added the paragraph on Thomas Jefferson and the origin of the term. It can thus be assumed that the move to l'enfant terrible was motivated by the unsourced and unsupported etymology).

Given that:
Websters doesn't carry l'enfant terrible
Virtually all links to this page are redirects from enfant terrible
I propose to move this page to enfant terrible.
