[edit] Project Scientology article?

Is this really a Project Scientology article? The only relationship seems to be that the comic book writers used L-Ron the robot's name to make a joke about L. Ron Hubbard's name. Does this add to our understanding of the subject of Scientology? Thanks. Steve Dufour 10:54, 23 May 2007 (UTC)

What if we take out the uncited sentence in the article but leave the disambig to Hubbard's article? That way we recognize that there could be some connection. BTW I don't see that L-Ron and L. Ron have much in common beyond their names. :-) Steve Dufour 17:45, 23 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] "...the name of..."?

The article starts: "L-Ron is the name of a fictional character in the DC Comics universe." Why not just say: "L-Ron is a fictional character in the DC Comics universe."? Am I missing something? Steve Dufour 17:09, 26 May 2007 (UTC)

The information about his name being a take-off of Hubbard's name is not a major part of the article. Maybe about 5%. But you have made it about 25% of the lead by repeating the whole thing there. And please also explain why the article should be about the name of the robot, not the robot himself. Thank you. Steve Dufour 04:50, 27 May 2007 (UTC)

That's a matter of interpretation. Unless someone can cite a source saying the creator intentionally implied it, we can't say that in encyclopedic entry. State the facts. Doczilla 07:37, 27 May 2007 (UTC)

As far as I recall, the name of the character is merely "L-Ron". The "last name" of H*bb*rd was a fan suggestion in a lettercol, that whomever was answering the letters that month said something like: "yeah, just like that: H*bb*rd". Considering in a similar situation in the Flash lettercolumn involving the Killg%re in which they certified 3 different pronunciations (including kilgore, and kilgree), I don't think that we should say that that is L-Ron's name without additional verification. And further, does anyone have any reference proving that L-Ron refers to Mr. Hubbard of scientology fame? - jc37 23:40, 30 May 2007 (UTC)

Personally, I think your confidence in your opinion is great, however, since this is an encyclopedia, we need references showing it. I personally don't care if he is or isn't, I just want actual referenced proof. - jc37 00:35, 31 May 2007 (UTC)
