[edit] VFD Debate
A non notable radio station from a city obscure to just about everyone but Northwesteners. Not relevant to Wikipedia.•→Iñgólemo←• 03:03, 2004 Sep 29 (UTC)
- Shouldn't this have another vote to establish consensus? Delete, it's not even formated. Cool Hand Luke 18:19, 29 Sep 2004 (UTC)
- I formatted the article slightly now. 66.245.78.149 20:13, 29 Sep 2004 (UTC)
- Still not a vote, but bad formatting is absolutely not a reason to delete. That can be fixed, the question is if it's notable enough for any article at all. VV 00:08, 30 Sep 2004 (UTC)
- I know, this was only a peripheral issue to it having no content that establishes note (hence "not even"). We should not suffer non-note establishing substubs to exist. I'll change vote if note established: it looks promising considering the Alice Cooper links to. Cool Hand Luke 05:31, 30 Sep 2004 (UTC)
- Keep. I can think of many equally insignificant and even less notable articles that are kept. If someone really wants to write about this station, let them. Jongarrettuk 20:43, 29 Sep 2004 (UTC)
- If someone wants to write more than one line about it, I'd cetyainly let them. Cool Hand Luke 05:31, 30 Sep 2004 (UTC)
- Keep. Not being properly formatted is not a reason for deletion. Eugene is the second largest city in the state of Oregon. It is the county seat of Lane County. Please stop this stupid listing of anything you havn't heard of for deletion. Intrigue 21:45, 29 Sep 2004 (UTC)
- Keep, assuming it's a real radio station. Media outlets, even small ones, are fair game for Wikipedia articles. CJCurrie 21:56, 29 Sep 2004 (UTC)
- Comment: having just quickly looked at www.96kzel.com, it is clear that it's real. Jongarrettuk 22:12, 29 Sep 2004 (UTC)
- Keep. —Morven 22:36, Sep 29, 2004 (UTC)
- Keep. Agree with CJCurrie. Any FCC-licensed radio or TV station in the U.S., or the equivalent in other countries, is notable. The only close question would come with regard to pirate stations. JamesMLane 03:29, 30 Sep 2004 (UTC)
- Keep, possibly move. It seems like most similar tv/radio station pages use the call letters as their title. What do you think? [[User:Rhymeless|Rhymeless | (Methyl Remiss)]] 04:37, 30 Sep 2004 (UTC)
- Good idea, there are other 96.1's. JamesMLane 04:51, 30 Sep 2004 (UTC)
- But there are probably other KZELs. VV 06:26, 30 Sep 2004 (UTC)
- As I understand, station callsigns don't repeat, or am I mistaken? Unless you're suggesting some sort of hypothetical 4-letter acronym? [[User:Rhymeless|Rhymeless | (Methyl Remiss)]] 06:42, 30 Sep 2004 (UTC)
- Keep, but at KZEL. -- Jmabel 02:55, Oct 1, 2004 (UTC)
- Keep, but move to KZEL. To answer Rhymeless, FCC assigned callsigns don't repeat - at least in the United States. If there ever was another KZEL appearing on WP, we can always make a disambiguation page. Thanks to CJCurrie for acknowledging small markets - I'm in one, and I get tired of the Los Angeles stations thinking they are the only radio stations around Southern California. There's a whole new world north of the San Gabriel Mountains - and they don't even have a clue, except for a select few stations. --avnative 20:10, Oct 1, 2004 (UTC)
- Keep, expand, and do not move to KZEL. The station's legal callsign is KZEL-FM, not KZEL. See the station's page in the FCC database. Callsigns do repeat, but only with a different suffix. –radiojon 06:41, 2004 Oct 11 (UTC)
The Wikipedia:Naming conventions (common names) policy might help here. Stations are often referred to as (e.g.) 96.1 KZEL, more than KZEL-FM. VeryVerily 07:03, 11 Oct 2004 (UTC)
