Kyrkjebø
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Kyrkjebø is a village in Høyanger municipality in Sogn og Fjordane, Norway. Its population is 245[1].
The surrounding area used to constitute a separate municipality. That municipality, which was known as Klævold at that time, was created by separation from Lavik formannskapsdistrikt in 1858, at which point Kyrkjebø (Klævold) had a population of 1,645. On 1 July 1890 the name was changed from Klævold to Kirkebø[2], and later to Kyrkjebø.
On January 1, 1875, a border adjustment took place, moving a district of Kyrkjebø with 90 inhabitants to the municipality Lavik og Brekke.
On January 1, 1964, Kyrkjebø with its 4,742 inhabitants became a part of Høyanger.
