[edit] Wishes
I wish you and your family a Merry Christmas and a happy New Year. --Bhadani 17:07, 25 December 2005 (UTC)
- And a (slightly belated) Merry Christmas to you, too! (I was offline yesterday so just got your message). I'm looking forward to seeing The Christmas Invasion tonight, too. I have my fingers crossed that the CBC might be really nice and stick on the Children in Need interlude as a bonus. I guess we'll see (I'm out of town for the holidays so I'm only online whenever I stumble across an Internet cafe). Cheers! 23skidoo 15:54, 26 December 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Just want to clarify something
Hi, Sean. (Do you really not use the fada? It shocks my Irish blood not to write Seán!) I just want to clarify something I wrote about Chooserr being harassed. I posted a message here, mentioning that "on three occasions, when he left a message on my talk page, other people who would certainly not have had my talk page on their watchlists followed him with comments." You were one of the three people, but I did not find it at all offensive. I was offended by this, followed by this, which seemed to me to be a clear case of wiki-stalking, especially since the removal of the brackets was harmless. I do think, however, that it's perfectly appropriate for an administrator to look occasionally at his contribs, as he is a very controversial editor, and clearly has problems with NPOV. (In fact, I take a peep at his contributions occasionally myself!) I'm just not happy with someone abusing him and making snide remarks, and following him around putting a speedy delete tag on something that he has just started,[1] (which is clearly not an appropriate Speedy Delete candidate, and I feel that although Chooserr has certainly caused disruption, he must think he has been treated very unfairly, since those who abuse him are not blocked. I think also he is rather naive. Consider how he went up for adminship when he was very new and had only about a hundred edits, and think of the way when he's blocked he posts all those messages saying that he likes Wikipedia. (Gosh, I wouldn't like Wikipedia if I were treated the way he is!) He's in the middle of his seventh block at the moment, I think! Anyway, I just wanted to clarify that my remark was not in any way aimed at you! Hope you had a nice Christmas. Cheers. AnnH (talk) 17:04, 27 December 2005 (UTC)
- Hi Sean, thanks for your reply. I have study to catch up with, so I'm going on a wiki-reduction which will gradually turn into a wiki-break until the middle of January. However, I promised Chooserr that I would watch out for attacks directed at him (as I'm sure it must seem very unfair to him that he's punished so often while those who taunt him are at most mildly rebuked). I told him also that I'd ask some other admins to keep an eye out for any nastiness while I'm on my wiki-break, so that's why I'm turning to you. I know that although you've blocked him in the past, you've treated him courteously and have tried to talk to him rather than sneering at him, so I'd be glad if you could monitor the situation. In my view, the worst offender by far is Aolanaonwaswronglyaccused, who seems not to have contributed very recently. If you get time – and I don't blame you if you don't, as the section is very long – you might take a look at the discussion on AN/I, especially the longish comment made by GTBacchus. Thanks. P.S. Another thing that I need- a specific list of all the unknown problems I will encounter. Just Joking! But a boss did actualy say that. And another boss said this: "This project is so important we must not let anything more important get in its way". :-] and lol-ing.

[edit] reverted member addition to WikiProject
Hey, Sean. I noticed that you reverted an anon's addition of User:Reconstruct-a-Rill inc. to the Doctor Who WikiProject. I understand why you did (since it's usual to add only your own name to a project list), but if you look at the anon's contributions I think it's at least probable that the anon is Reconstruct-a-Rill, just not signed in for some reason. Do you want to leave a note at Reconstruct-a-Rill and/or the anon's talk pages, explaining why you removed the name? I'd do it, but I'd be assuming your reasons and I think it would be better coming from you.
Hope you have a happy new year! —Josiah Rowe (talk • contribs) 02:05, 31 December 2005 (UTC)

P.S. You should archive this talk page.
- Yeah, I know — I'm planning to do it tomorrow night so I can simply label the archive "2005". A bit anal, I know, but I probably wouldn't be here if I weren't. :^)
P.S.S. I want to nominate somebody for adminship—interested?
- What, in becoming an admin myself? Nah, I don't think so. I was an admin for a while at the OG forums, and I didn't enjoy myself as much there as I did when I was just a prolific poster. I think that for the moment, I'll remain a common-or-garden variety Wikipedian. But thanks for the offer! —Josiah Rowe (talk • contribs) 04:09, 31 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] I am big Doctor Who fan.
Hello Sean,
Thankyou for allowing me to join your every expanding encyclopedia. Like yourself, I am a huge Doctor Who fan...and I've only seen the series that came out this year and I'm mad about it. I was hyper when I first saw a Dalek and I liked the Autons, Slitheen and Reapers as well. I cannot wait until next year when the next series comes out. It will be the first time I see the Cybermen, and original characters from the show (Sarah Jane and K9). David Tennant is a great person to play Doctor, but I do find Rose a bit annoying sometimes. I was terrified of the Gasmask Aliens and had nightmares of them for about two weeks! I'm sure the next series and following ones will be awesome.
Nice meeting you,
Evilgidgit
PS: I am not actually evil, I just like the name.
PSS: Could you check the Pokemon Stadium topic. I recently updated it with info on the mini-games and I need your approval and to know what needs to be changed.

[edit] Recategorizing Big Finish
Hey, Sean. Looks like you're going ahead and recategorizing the Big Finish audios. Want a hand? If so, how are you going about it (so that I don't step on your toes) — by Doctor, or in the order the audios are in at Category:Doctor Who audio plays? Finally, do we want to specify Big Finish in the category description? That would exclude Slipback from Category:Sixth Doctor audio plays and Death Comes to Time from Category:Seventh Doctor audio plays (which may or may not be appropriate). —Josiah Rowe (talk • contribs) 04:37, 5 January 2006 (UTC)
- Hmm... my inclination would be to remove "Big Finish" at least from the 6th and 7th Doc categories. And since it looks like you're working on Colin now, I'll get started on the Eighth Doctor so I don't get in your way. :) —Josiah Rowe (talk • contribs) 04:52, 5 January 2006 (UTC)
I think we got them all, unless we want to create Category:Third Doctor audio dramas (or radio dramas?) for The Paradise of Death and The Ghosts of N-Space. —Josiah Rowe (talk • contribs) 07:01, 5 January 2006 (UTC)
- Yeah, I guess you're right. (What's the lower size limit for categories?) Speaking of Zagreus, I'm not even sure it should be in the Fifth/Sixth/Seventh Doctor audio dramas categories. See Talk:Zagreus (Doctor Who audio). —Josiah Rowe (talk • contribs) 07:11, 5 January 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Jeremiah Duggan
Sean, I reverted the edit at Jeremiah Duggan, not because I disagreed with you, but because the anon had introduced some awkward phrasing. Prior to the anon edit, it was simply that he "was killed after running down the middle of a busy road near Wiesbaden, Germany," which gets rid of the need for struck by cars/traffic. [2] Feel free to revert me if you disagree. SlimVirgin (talk) 20:30, 5 January 2006 (UTC)

Okay, you closed the slim virgin mfd. If I can be really picky, at mfd it's {{mfd top}} and {{mfd bottom}}. They're a sort of lilac, and every deletion process is supposed to have it's own colour. Still, ta for closing it, I was just pondering a similar move after sorting out a mess further down the page. Sorry to be a crusty old git and all. [edit] Reflections. Expressions of gratitude. Poetry. All for Sean Black
Mr. Black, I have never seen Kamen Rider, and yet other aspects of your userspace appeal to me so greatly. For example, your commitment to the morale and emotional wellbeing of Wikipedians. As an admin, I promise to conduct myself in such a way as will be good for morale of the big wikiteam. So thank you so much for your support of my RfA. I'm a little choked up right now...perhaps I should just rely on poetry to express what is in my trembling heart:

[edit] Template:User against jews
I saw you speedied this. Would you also speedy Template:User against scientology as it is of the exact same brand? I guess I could say I'm really bothered by one being deleted and the other not (and I know it's not exactly your fault) but since I didn't want to prematurely delete the Scientology one I wouldn't have deleted the Judaism one so I can't exactly change midstream. See, the idea of us getting into the habit of judging what is a legitimate religion and what is not... is problematic. If nothing else at least comment on this for me. Thanks. gren グレン 12:35, 8 January 2006 (UTC)

- Important point: In most countries Scientology is not recognised as a religion nor a charitable organisation. And looking at articles like Office of Special Affairs, Rehabilitation Project Force (neo-Gulags) or Xenu you can see why. --Mistress Selina Kyle (Α⇔Ω ¦ ⇒✉) 12:44, 8 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] NOES 2
Explain how all that was not needed? The tagline? If you are going to have a section devoted to the budget, the exectutive producers, the language, running time and other such tidbits then you should include the tagline as well.
Ok, well if you feel that they are not important enough for their own section (which I don't see why that would even be a problem, because it sections it away so that you know what it is) then you can put them all in the place you think they best belong, cause I added them to each movie.

[edit] User:Mistress Selina Kyle - indef block
Dear Sean: (I initially wrote this to Cryptic, but found out you were the original blocking admin from him) Regarding your indefinite block of this user - I agree this user's behaviour has been frequently unpleasant and out-of-line; undeniably, something has to done, although I'm not sure that an indefinite block is necessarily the best answer. Usually I am somewhat hesitant to dish out indefinite blocks on anyone (save for Willy on Wheels vandals and impostor accounts) simply because of the fact it is somewhat unwiki, and also because usually I am prepared to give users at least a second, if not a third, chance (with fairly long blocks in between). The other thing is that unilateral blocks given by admins tend to be unpopular amongst many users, regardless of the merits of the matter, where the arbcom hasn't ordered it. Personally I would advise perhaps changing that block to one month, or perhaps three - or, alternatively, removing the block entirely and sending it to arbitration. If the arbcom get involved, that would give more weight to the matter, and no potential allegations of unfair conduct could be levelled by users who disagree with the block. Just a suggestion, of course; your blocks are of course your own domain, and I absolutely will not tamper with it myself. All the best, --NicholasTurnbull | (talk) 22:25, 11 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] MSK Unblocking
It was recently pointed out to me that I should contact you about my unblocking of Mistress Selina Kyle. My apologies for not doing so previously. My feeling is that while her behavior is in need of improvement, she's not at the point where an indefinite block is justified. Kelly Martin asserts that the user shares an IP with known vandals, but let us consider both that Kelly Martin is herself in conflict with the user (The whole Userbox purge), and there seems to be some discussion on MSK's talk page that while she does happen to come from an open proxy (and I'm not really well versed enough in Internet meanings to understand that, looks like I'll have to study up), that it's not neccessarily her choice to edit from that proxy and it's also possible that she simply happens to have the same IP as a vandal (ie the whole situation with AOL). I dont have a full understanding of that situation, but I don't think she's conclusively linked to other vandalism. This is not to say that I'm unable to be convinced that she should be banned, but so far I'm not seeing the evidence for it, and I am seeing the evidence of what is in my perception some rather heavy handed action from other Administrators, and I think there needs to be further dispute resolution procedures taken before she's indefinitely banned. I of course want to spend some time researching her case, and will be doing so. The idea behind a community banning is that a User is essentially banned if indefinitely blocked, and not one Administrator can be found that's willing to unblock. However, if there are Admins who oppose the block, then the Ban is disputed, and further dispute resolution is the appropriate course. That is why I chose to unblock her. I note that she has been re-blocked, so I'm not going to reverse that, but I wanted to express to you my opinion on that matter. Ëvilphoenix Burn! 01:04, 13 January 2006 (UTC)
- Personally, I believe she deserves fair trial, but I won't unblock for now. —Nightstallion (?) 06:55, 13 January 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Editing your user page
Might I suggest that you change this notice:
"Edit this page. Make it interesting. Do whatever you want- write an article about me, write a rant about the brilliance of Kamen Rider, whatever. It's up to you (just leave my ArbCom and Esperanza boxes, you can change anything else, really)."
If you do not want people to edit your user page freely, as I did, you should change your user page. I only made the edit because you effectively asked for it, after criticising User:Dschor to the extent of radically changing his user page, encouraging others to do the same, and writing on the Administrator's Noticeboard professing your right to do so.
Might I suggest simply that you change what you write on your user page to more correctly reflect what you are going to allow.
And please can you retract your false accusations about me as well. Zordrac (talk) Wishy Washy Darwikinian Eventualist 03:35, 14 January 2006 (UTC)
