Kyojuu Tokusou Juspion (巨獣特捜ジャスピオン Kyojū Tokusō Jasupion - Megabeast Special Investigator Juspion?) is a Japanese TV Series and part of the Metal Heroes franchise produced by the Toei Company in March 3, 1985 through March 24, 1986. The name Juspion is a portmanteau of the words "Justice" and "Champion". Juspion is the only Metal Hero series to have a focus on giant robot action, as opposed to the Space Sheriff Trilogy and the series to come afterwards, Jikuu Senshi Spielban, that had ships that could turn into mecha but were mostly models fighting enemy ships.

[edit] Plot
While reading the Galaxy Bible, Ejin learns of a shocking prophecy: When the dark god Satan Goss awakens, the universe as we know it will be destroyed. When Satan Goss appears, Juspion sets off under orders from his mentor Ejin to stop the evil Satan Goss and his Megabeasts with the android Anri and the giant warrior robot Daileon.
[edit] Characters
[edit] Main
- Juspion: the main hero of the series. Juspion is an orphan raised by prophet and scientist Ejin. Juspion dons a silver-colored Metaltex Armor and pilots a mothership which transforms into a giant robot called Daileon, both crafted by Ejin. Juspion travels around a few planets to stop Satan Goss menace, until he arrives on Earth.
- Ejin: an space hermit and scientist, the descendant of prophets who defended the Galaxy Bible for tens of millennia. Raised Juspion, the survivor of a destroyed spaceship and sent him off to defeat Satan Goss. He serves as Juspion's spiritual guide and mentor.
- Anri: a gynoid created by Ejin, she is Juspion's sidekick. Being a machine, Anri is immune to evil powers at all.
- Miya: a Teletubbies-looking child alien creature found by Juspion and Anri on the jungle planet of Beezee. After her parents were killed by Satan Goss's forces, Juspion adopted Miya. She almost doesn't speak, sometimes restricting herself to repeat only her name.
- Boomerang (5-10, 31-32): after his older brother, an Interpol investigator, was killed by Satan Goss's forces, this medical student vowed revenge and became a 'Federal Nations Sheriff', fighting with his twin boomerangs.
- The Nambara Family (15-): cameraman Ken'ichirou Nambara, his older daughter Kanoko and his younger son Kenta became closely linked with Juspion when Ken'ichirou took a photo of the Golden Bird. It turned out that Kanoko was one of the 5 chosen by the Golden Bird to house its power until the time comes.
- The Golden Bird: guardian phoenix god of the galaxy, a manifestation of the energies of righteousness. The bird scattered itself into five pieces that choose Kanoko, along with four other children (Kumiko, Daisaku, Hiroshi and Mika) to serve as its vessels until all five are brought together so that Golden Bird can leave their bodies and become whole again for the final battle with Satan Goss, turning itself into a golden sword used by Daileon.
- Tarzan of the Galaxy: a baby mentioned in a prophecy in the Galaxy Bible, he landed on Earth, sleeping in a life-preserving capsule, as the sole survivor of a spaceship attacked by space pirates. Juspion saw himself in the baby and named it the Tarzan of the Galaxy.
[edit] Villains (Megabeast Empire)
- Satan Goss (also know as Satan Gorth due to different romanizations of サタンゴース). he was born of the negative energy of the Universe, the great-god-demon, evil himself, the Satan. The terrible Satan Goss has the power to enrage the creatures, turning then in vicious monsters. Satan Goss's objective is to create the Megabeast Empire in the Galaxy and rule it from the Earth, more specifically from Tokyo, Japan. Satan Goss is visually similar to Darth Vader, but in giant scale.
- Madgalant (also know as MacGaren and Maddo Garan due to different romanizations of マッドギャラン): Madgalant is Satan Goss's son and his heir to the Megabeast Empire. Juspion's antagonist throughout the series, he is capable of fighting him with his sword (similar to Juspion's) and with his black VTOL 6-legged insectoid walker/plane, the Juldbooma. He wears a reminiscent black Metaltex Armor similar to Juspion's and can take on human form.
- The Aliens: mercenaries of various unnamed species who assist Madgalant, regularly serving as his henchmen.
- Gilza The Galaxy Witch (29-37): alien witch who was responsible of bringing Madgalant back to life when he was first defeated in battle by Juspion. Gilza is precisely an expert in curses and general dark arts.
- Gilmarza The Spectre Queen of the Dark Galaxy (39-46): Gilza's elder sister. She has the 5 Space Ninjas (see right below) as her top soldiers.
- The 5 Space Ninjas: Gilmarza's top soldiers, they wear suits of black armor differing only in the color of their forehead plates (which name them after the element he/she represents, in a conception taken directly from Taoism). They all have one peculiar fighting technique and revealed their true forms after having their heads split open by Juspion's sword.
- Ka (Fire (Red); 39-43): his technique consists on him jumping above a jet of fire and then rushing into the enemy, strongly hitting him with an explosion; his true form is of a cannon which springs out from his neck, fueled by Fuu's meteor/comet.
- Fuu (Wind (Yellow/Golden); 39-43): his technique is similar to Ka's but using wind instead of fire; his true form is of a massive meteor/comet which fuels Ka's cannon.
- Dou (Earth (White/Silver); 39): his technique has him burrowing deep into the earth to provoke massive earthquakes or ambush careless enemies; his true form is of a giant demon skull that can project plasma discharges and increase its size, doubling his attack power.
- Sui (Water (Blue); 39-40): his technique consists on him fashioning twin plasma swords on both hands; his true form is of a kind of energy-draining satellite.
- Moku (Wood (Green); 39-42): his technique allows him to fire green gravity beams from his fingertips; his true form is of a space warrior wearing white clothing with a horrible demonic mask and fighting with a long halberd, in similarity with a kabuki artist.
- The 4 Deva Kings: hirelings of Madgalant.
- Iki (13-15): a top-ranking ruthless bodyguard in the galaxy.
- Zampa (13-18): an android who rules the Machine Empire, he murdered Juspion's real parents.
- Brima/Purima (13-46): a prophet with a crystal ball, she and Guillauie become Madgalant's personal bodyguards after Iki and Zampa are defeated by Juspion.
- Guillauie/Gyouru (13-46): a female spy and master of disguise, she and Brima become Madgalant's personal bodyguards after Iki's and Zampa's deaths by Juspion.
- Amazones (10): two evil ladies created under Madgalant's rule in order to locate the long-extinct Pirazahl and revive it as a weapon against Juspion.
- Zamura (19): a samurai-like warrior who lived deep in the sea since his first death more than 900 years ago. He and Madgalant concocted a plan of creating missile dolphins to destroy every litoranean town in Japan. Zamura was practically granted immortality thanks to his Megabeast (Umiblar)'s existence.
- Giller (20): A mariachi-looking space murderer dead millenia ago, raised from his ethernal casket by Satan Goss himself. He lured Juspion into a blind cave to study all of the hero's weapons and powers in order to kill and entomb him forever. Giller was the only villain in the whole series not to die at Juspion's hands (it is even uncertain if Giller is really dead after the cave collapsed on him).
- Tikita (22): Brima's mastress of dark arts, she placed an evil curse on Kanoko.
- Gazami Brothers (25-26): space mercenary brothers who pillaged and destroyed several planets (amidst them Koko's planet Drods). Gazami 2 is first terminated by Juspion; in a devilish attempt to avenge his brother, Gazami 1 (along with Megabeast Borger) tackles the hero and gets destroyed as well.
- Cutey Girls (27): a trio of young evil women composed of Cutey Ace, Cutey Heart & Cutey Queen. They were in charge of kidnapping young sportsters and turn them into savage beasts under Madgalant's control. Their true form is a Cerberus-like 3-Faced Beast Warrior.
- Aigerman (28): an android with a western face who extensively studied Juspion's and Daileon's attributes.
- Silk, Kenga and Zahul (31): three mafia-styled yakuza members (Silk is human while Kenga and Zahul are his cyborg hirelings) which allied Madgalant in a menacing plan of bombing Japan sea coast with nuclear warheads, thus causing it to sink into the ocean, unless a big ransom is paid to Madgalant in gold bars.
- Tipp (32): an old alien scientist which abducted every electronic device in Earth to use as lethal weapons working for Satan Goss.
- Dragoon (37): a reptilian-looking alien specialised in culinary, he created an evil duplicate of Miya in order to lure Juspion into a devious trap involving poisoned food. Dragoon can fire small powerful energy orbs and fights with a rapier.

[edit] Mecha
- Metaltex Suits: top-quality protective armors made from the very rare galactic minerium Ejinium. These can be telepathically activated through the owner's mental command, ensuring superhuman capabilities to its owner. Only two suits exist in the whole universe: Juspion's silver-colored one and Madgalant's black-colored one.
- Ironwolf: Juspion's silver motorcycle, a 'Super Planet Machine'.
- Juldbooma: Madgalant's black VTOL 6-legged insectoid walker/plane, counterpart of Juspion's Ironwolf.
- Garbin: Juspion's silver tank, which splits into the Garbin Tank with twin drills and the Garbin Jet.
- Daileon: Juspion's silver flying fortress and greatest weapon. Normally in self-explanatory Super Planet Battle Mothership mode, it can transform into a 60-meter-tall 'Battle Giant' robot in 5.8 seconds and defeat Megabeasts with the Cosmic Crash technique's double punches.

[edit] Trivia
Trivia sections are discouraged under Wikipedia guidelines. The article could be improved by integrating relevant items and removing inappropriate ones. |
- The official Toei video releases in the '80s listed in English, below the title, "Space Wolf Juspion." This has created some confusion and has led some to believe that is the actual title of the series and translation of "Kyojuu Tokusou." The Space Wolf name is simply one of Juspion's nicknames much like the "Galactic Tarzan" in order for him to have a title to introduce himself by.
- Series star Hikaru Kurosaki, who at the time was known for his comedic performances, was reportedly uncomfortable with having yet another comedic role with Juspion. Out of his fear of being typecast further, the writers gradually changed Juspion into a more serious, traditional hero several episodes into the series.
