[edit] Kyle Rayner Redirect

I originally posted this in Apostrophe's user talk page, but he/she never got back to me, so I'll put it in the open. I just wanted to say I think Kyle's main page should stay at Kyle Rayner, since the character has been known longer as that. The (second) Ion development is a recent change and changing his name in the Green Lantern Corps footer and everything might confuse someone who doesn't know him as Ion. Further, the vast majority of the information on the page relates to him as Green Lantern Kyle Rayner, not as Ion. I propose either a split page (where the Kyle Rayner page deals mostly with his run as a Green Lantern and has a brief section on Ion that leads to the main Ion page and where the Ion page can be fleshed out as more about the new version of the character becomes available) or returning to the Kyle Rayner page. What are your thoughts? --Rocketgoat 04:13, 22 February 2006 (UTC)
Further, three of the five current categories on this page (Green Lantern Corps members, Justice League members, DC Comics Titans members) apply to Kyle Rayner, but not necessarily to Ion, who we still know practically nothing about. --Rocketgoat 22:13, 22 February 2006 (UTC)

It seems like this page should focus on Kyle Rayner, talk about who he is in his civilian life, his introduction to the DC Comics universe, his multiple alter egos (with a link to the Green Lantern page and a new Ion page), controversy section, and various character appearances. [edit] The other Ion

The Blazing Skull article incorrectly links to this one. That character has a niece (as revealed in Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe entries) that is also called Ion. More about her here: http://www.marvunapp.com/Appendix/ionmachi.htm -Kevingarcia 06:59, 24 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Controversy

I'm eliminating the bit about the transition from Barry to Wally as being "controversial." There's nothing about any controversy on either the Barry, Wally or Flash pages.

I altered the wording on Hal's rampage. It initially said he had killed the entire GL Corps. He killed a number of Lanterns, yes, but others were simply depowered by his destruction of the Central Battery. I thought the wording was misleading. Rajah1 11:37, November 18 2006

I think the wording in the controversy section of this article is a bit biased against the character. - Rayner23 1:38 p.m. December 18 2006

[edit] Hawkworld Annual#2

In this future, a Green Lantern resembling Kyle Rayner appears. Enda80 14:35, 14 January 2007 (UTC)Enda80

[edit] Powers and abilities

This article needs a powers and abilities section with Green Lantern and Ion subsections for non-readers like myself to understand better. I mean, it's not cryptic as it is, it's just part of the general how-to-write-superhero-articles MOS.~ZytheTalk to me! 15:01, 24 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Kyle was the only Green Lantern and not a member of the Green Lantern Corps

The first paragraph says:

"known for most of his publication history as Green Lantern, a member of the intergalactic police force known as the Green Lantern Corps."

This is wrong. For most of Kyle's publication history the Green Lantern Corps did not exist and Kyle was the only Green Lantern. He knew next to nothing about the Corps. He only became a member of the Green Lantern Corps quite recently, after the resurrection of Hal Jordan.

[edit] The Ring?

What happened to Kyle's ring when he became Ion the second time round? Did he absorb it, or just discard it?Bluecatcinema 11:22, 7 June 2007 (UTC)

Don't think he actually possesses one, since he had a power source inside himself which directly pulls energy from the Starheart and from the main battery.

[edit] New Main Picture and Current Future?

Any chance somebody could update this thing again with an image of Kyle Rayner in his new streamlined GLC union suit? It's gonna appear in the Sinestro Corps Special: Ion #1 but there are better images out there on other "Search for Ray Palmer" one-shot covers. There should be something like a spoiler space for the eventual outcome of Kyle Rayner and a mention he'll be bouncing around the Multiverse with Donna Troy, Jason Todd, and Bob the Monitor. I hate the character has went through the ringer, and I hate he's finally went with the basic Lantern symbol. But I guess I gotta deal. Probably gonna work on some other super-hero related pages....

[edit] Merge Alternate versions of Green Lantern

  • merge/nom - The section that was split from original article by an ambitious editor to form a new "Alternate versions" article for all the characters. This section was already limited, and does not need to be split off to form a stub article. It's a detriment to the original article, and at this point the alternate versions article does not need to exist. 66.109.248.114 21:25, 21 October 2007 (UTC)
  • support remerge - these should have never been split, especially w/o discussion. Characters like Gardner and Stewart were never THE Green Lantern, only A Green Lantern -- 69.182.73.240 05:42, 24 October 2007 (UTC)
  • support merge -- User:Redhead911 unilaterally created article without discussion with other editors, circumventing the consensus process. --Tenebrae 19:40, 24 October 2007 (UTC)
  • Support merge - As noted above, the characters are not alternate versions Green Lantern, they are other characters who have used the name green lantern. And based on the page's current criteria, it would eventually duplicate Green Lantern. - jc37 21:23, 24 October 2007 (UTC)
  • Support - As per above. Also, as with most of the resent bold splits (lots of alts and other media), this took what could be seen as a relevant section and made it into what comes close to a "Trivia only" article. - J Greb 22:05, 24 October 2007 (UTC)
  • Merge - there is no reason for the alternate versions entry as they all (rightly) have their own articles and the main Green Lantern article already holds them all together. (Emperor 22:27, 26 October 2007 (UTC))
Discussion closed with consensus to merge. 66.109.248.114 23:39, 15 November 2007 (UTC)
