[edit] Comments
The only problems I have with this article are the following:
- Citations are not needed for every plot point. They are only necessary for potentially contentious statements. Repeatedly citing the BBC website with a small episode summary is unnecessary every time the plot is discussed. In addition, many of these plot citations are used for sentences which state something beyond the plot, such as, "More recently, the character has been portrayed as increasingly emotionally unstable, breaking down". See WP:CITE.
- There appears to be original research in this article under a number of sections: Personality ("Each of these traits quickly became obvious within the character"), Relationships ("The character's poor taste in men - central to most all of her storylines on the show - was also quickly made apparent"), and especially Popularity ("Of the major storylines attributed to the character, Kyla's romance with doctor Abra Durant (Adrian Edmondson) has proved the most popular. This is perhaps unsurprising considering that Edmondson is one of only two cast members, alongside Patsy Kensit, to have achieved notable fame outside the show. The popularity of this plot strand is most clearly demonstrated by the viewing figures for the episodes culminating the character's three most major storylines to date"). There may be other hints of original research throughout the article other than what I just mentioned.
-
- Done - Reworded the first two examples, removed the last entirely - also nixed a few other sentences which seemed to qualify under WP:OR throughout.
- This may be my personal bias, but it seems that there is far too much plot information and not enough information about background and casting. I would rather see information speaking about Kyla as a cultural agent rather than exactly what has happened to her throughout her character's career on the show. In addition, it would be helpful to look at cultural and/or character analysis of Kyla.
Other than that the article is well-written and seems to be laid out well. Hopefully these few concerns can be addressed within the next 7 days. -- Noetic Sage 19:53, 11 September 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks for the review. I appreciate your concerns, and I'll get working on rectifying them - hopefully bringing the article up to standard within the week. Frickative 22:55, 11 September 2007 (UTC)
[edit] GA pass
I have re-reviewed the article (as 7 days have passed) and see you have done superb work in addressing the previous concerns. The article looks excellent! I have listed the article as a Good Article, congrats! For further improvement, consider adding some citations to the Storylines section (only for important points - don't reference the old BBC plot summaries). In addition, if you find any academic articles about Kyla as a cultural agent (see Google Scholar, etc), that would make the article even better. Other than that, keep up the fantastic work! -- Noetic Sage 20:35, 18 September 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Kyla&Abra.png
Image:Kyla&Abra.png is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
