Kylie Minogue's leaked material

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The following is a list of songs recorded by Kylie Minogue, but that were chosen not to be used on her studio albums or singles, most remaining unreleased but have leaked on to the internet. This list does not include remixes or alternate versions of released tracks, but does however make note of a few tracks which leaked and were later released officially.

Contents

[edit] Kylie Minogue era (1994)

A number of tracks from this period- "Love is on the Line", "Our Lovin'", "For All I'm Worth" and "Aston Martin" (all written by Minogue, Grazzia Mallozzi and Marco Sabiu) have leaked onto the internet. "Aston Martin" leaked in 1998 while "For All I'm Worth" leaked in mono in 2003.

Both "Our Lovin'" had been given to Czech artist Dara Rollins, and "Love is on the Line" given to Polish artist Edyta Gorniak to record. In 1994, a 17 second clip of Minogue's version of "Our Lovin'" and in 2007 a 13 second clip of Minogue's recording of "Love is on the Line" leaked.

[edit] Impossible Princess era (1997)

In 1998, "You're The One", "Stay This Way" & "Take Me With You" leaked online as poor quality MP3s. While the former track remains unreleased, both latter tracks were released on BMG's 2000 compilation album Hits +.

[edit] Light Years era (2000)

While no tracks have as yet leaked from this period of Minogue's career technically speaking, the track "Always And Forever" (David Arch, Toddy), which was the theme tune to UK soap opera Night & Day has been shared among fans created from a fan made version of clips from the TV show.

[edit] Fever era (2001)

Two tracks written during this period by Pascal Gabriel and Paul Statham leaked over the years; the first "No Better Love" appeared online in November 2002, while the second "So High" began to circulate in 2006.

One of the songs which Minogue had sent for other artists to use, "Feels So Good" (Minogue, Steve Anderson), which was covered in 2002 by Atomic Kitten, leaked through Anderson's MySpace profile in November 2006.

[edit] Body Language era (2003)

The first tracks to leak from Body Language sessions were not until 2005 when both "My Image Unlimited" (Wayne Wilkins, Mark Stent, Andrew Frampton, Dane Bowers, Javine Hylton) and "I'm Just Here for the Music" (Danielle Brisebois, Wayne Rodriguez) appeared online.

A number of other tracks appeared online in 2006: "I'm Sorry" and "Trippin' Me Up" (Minogue, Pascal Gabriel, Paul Statham), which both leaked online with "So High", in June and "On The Up" (Johnny Douglas) which initially appeared as a clip on YouTube before leaking in full by November. "Trippin' Me Up" was notable as not only did a finished version leak, but also two different acoustic versions, a demo version and two test mixes.

A track from the Body Language sessions entitled "Boombox" leaked online in various remixes in late 2007, after Minogue herself commissioned remixes of the song.[1] Mixes surfaced online from DJ Rokk & Pixel, Revolte, LA Riots, Bigface Party and JBAG. "Boombox" had been written with a sample of Prince track "Controversy", and was given to a number of artists to record. In February 2008, a 17-second clip of the original demo leaked online.

[edit] Ultimate Kylie era (2004)

Not long after the release of Ultimate Kylie in November 2004, two tracks from sessions Minogue held with production team Xenomania leaked onto the net: "Made of Glass" and an unfinished demo of "Loving You". [2] "Made of Glass" was later released on the B-side of the "Giving You Up" single release in March 2005. Minogue also worked with the Scissor Sisters during this period, their tracks "Everything I Know" leaked in 2005 in full, and "Ooh (The Blues)" a clip of which leaked online in 2007. The finished form of the latter track was released on the Scissor Sisters album Ta-Dah (titled "Ooh") without Minogue's vocals.

[edit] X era (2007)

On March 2, 2007, two demo songs leaked titled "Excuse My French" and "When The Cat's Away", both attributed to Rob Davis and Jewels & Stone. [3] Parlophone were quick to denounce the tracks, first confirming them as 'old demos", [3] then posting that "Kylie is not singing on ["Excuse My French"] and she has never recorded a song by that name". [4] Minogue herself later claimed that she had no recollection of singing the track, but also added that did not necessarily mean it wasn't one of her songs. [1]

Around May 20, reports surfaced that a 3 CDR discs of demo tracks from sessions for Minogue's album was circulating and over the following week five tracks leaked from it: "Lose Control" (Kish Mauve), "Fall For You", "Stars" (Minogue, Paul Harris, Julian Peake, Richard Stannard), "In My Arms" (Kylie Minogue, Paul Harris, Julian Peake, Richard Stannard, Calvin Harris), and "Sensitized" (Guy Chambers, Cathy Dennis, Serge Gainsbourg). [2] There was some speculation that the leaks were marketing ploy to get early exposure and interest for the new record but Minogue's management insisted "There would be no point in songs being leaked on to the net this far ahead of the release". [5] Minogue posted on her website that she was upset at the leaks but that the situation was believed to have been contained. [6] "In My Arms", "Sensitized" and "Stars" later appeared on the final album X, while a slower version of "Fall For You" was posted on the producer's own website in November. [7]

In August, a further track leaked called "I Am Ready", written by Boy George and Amanda Ghost.

Scottish musician Mylo was one of a number of artists Minogue worked with on X whose tracks did not make the final cut. In September, he posted two tracks on his MySpace profile that he's worked on with Minogue: "I'm In The Mood For Love" and "Spell of Desire". Both tracks were removed the following day. Minogue was reportedly angry over the tracks distribution. [8]
