Kyle E. Smalley

Kyle E. Smalley is an American amateur astronomer. He is engaged in the study of near-Earth asteroids and developed procedures to search lost asteroids. He is a member of the Astronomical Society of Kansas City and most of his observations he has made at their Powell Observatory. He also works as a consultant at the Minor Planet Center of the International Astronomical Union. In 2003 he won Amateur Achievement Award of the Astronomical Society of the Pacific. The asteroid 36445 Smalley was named in his honour.
