Kyōtoku

Kyōtoku (享徳?) was a Japanese era name (後花園天皇?) after Hōtoku and before Kosho. This period spanned the years from 1452 through 1455. The reigning emperor was Go-Hanazono-Tennō (後花園天皇?).[1]

- Kyōtoku gannen (享徳元年?); 1452: The era name was changed to mark an event or a number of events. The previous era ended and a new once commenced in Hōtoku 4.
[edit] Events of the Kyōtoku era
- Kyōtoku 2, in the 6th month (1453): The name of Shogun Ashikaga Yoshinari was changed to Ashikaga Yoshimasa.[2]
- Kyōtoku 3 (1454): Ashikaga Shigeuji arranged for the murder of the Kantō kanrei, Uesugi Noritada, thus beginning a series of conflicts for control of the Kantō which would come to be known as the Kyōtoku no Ran.
