KWVE is a commercial radio station located in San Clemente, California, broadcasting to the Greater Los Angeles area on 107.9 FM. KWVE airs Christian programming with an emphasis on Bible teaching and secondly, Christian music. The station is owned by Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa. Most of their teaching programs are locally produced by Calvary Chapel pastors. The music is of the praise and worship variety which they hope will "lead one into the worship of God without attracting too much attention to the music itself." [1] They also have three hours of Christian children's programming on Saturday mornings. [2]
[edit] History
Before Calvary Chapel operated this station, KWVE was a secular commercial music station that received poor ratings. In 1982, KWVE sold the 7 p.m. to midnight timeslot to Calvary Chapel as well as Sundays from 5 a.m. to noon. Their programming generated a lot of interest, and on April 15, 1985, Calvary Chapel bought KWave. They kept the KWVE call letters and changed the format to its current Christian format.
