KWTA-LP is a low-power television station serving Tucson, Arizona and surrounding area. It broadcasts on analog channel 31 and is an affiliate of Jewelry Television. The station is owned by Venture Technologies Group of Los Angeles, California.
[edit] History
An original construction permit to build a low power television station was granted to Venture Technologies Group on November 7, 1991. The station, to be constructed on channel 31, was given the callsign K31CK. After several modifications and expired construction permits, the station was licensed on September 5, 1997. The next month, the station changed its call letters to KWTA-LP. In April 2006, the station filed a displacement application with the FCC to move to channel 51, as KWTA-LP receives serious interference from KUVE-TV on channel 46.
