KWLE (1340 AM "The Whale") is a radio station that plays an Adult contemporary music format. Licensed to Anacortes, Washington, USA, it serves the Skagit County, Washington area. The station is currently owned by San Juan Communications, Inc.
The station plays a variety of 1970s, 1980s, 1990s, and current music. They also broadcast local Anacortes sporting events. It is mostly heard in the Skagit County area.[2][dead link]
1340 AM was originally broadcast as KLKI,[disputed] playing standards similar to Seattle station KIXI. The format change in December 2007 angered many loyal listeners, who argued that they no longer had an outlet to hear "Standards".[3][dead link]
