The Kwantlen First Nation are a Stóːlō people living in the Fraser Valley of British Columbia, Canada. They traditionally speak the Upriver dialect of Halkomelem, one of the Salishan family of languages of the Coast Salish peoples.
The nation is made up of 6 reserves, including four Langley/Kwantlen reserves, Whonnock IR #1 and McMillan Island IR #6, though the main community is located on McMillan Island. The nation's population is about 190 people.[1] The Kwantlen once resided primarily in villages near present day New Westminister but moved east to control trade when Fort Langley was established in the 19th century.
