Kwak Kyung-taek

Kwak Kyung-taek also written "Gwak Gyeong-Taek"(b. 23 May 1966,in Pusan, South Korea ) is a South Korean mainstream movie director best known for his record-breaking movie Friend (film).

Friend (Chingoo), a drama where conflicting criminal alliances turn old friends into enemies set a new record with an audience of 8 million. In 2001 he received the Holden Award for the Best Script for the film at the Torino Film Festival.
2003 he received an award at the Philadelphia Film Festival for the tragic boxer movie "Champion (2002 film)".
The action movie "Typhoon (2005 film)"(2005) ,however, was a big budget (15 mio$) flop.
