KVHP is a television station in Lake Charles, Louisiana, broadcasting locally on channel 29 as an affiliate of the Fox network. KVHP is owned by National Communications, and its transmitter is located halfway between Lake Charles and Beaumont, Texas in Vinton, Louisiana, allowing it to reach both markets.

In 2003, KVHP established a special low-powered Fox / UPN station for the Beaumont area, KUIL-LP on channel 64. KVHP also has another Texas-based repeater, KVHP-LP channel 66 in Jasper.

KVHP is transmitting 720p HD w/ 5.1 audio on 29.1 and their Fox SD signal on 29.2. This signal is transmitted via their low power transmitter from the tower located next to the studio on Prien Lake Road in Lake Charles. The HD signal was moved to the 1300ft (396m) tower near Edgerly as of January, 2007.

[edit] Local Programming

KVHP briefly aired news capsules and newscasts in the late 80's and early 90's before dropping them for a number of years. The station began airing local news once again in 1999, and expanded to producing a 2-hour morning show and 5 PM newscast within a year of the launch. KVHP was never considered a serious threat to KPLC's dominance in the ratings and by 2004, local news was dropped from the lineup entirely.

Today, the station's only local programming is a 30-minute Public affairs program called "On The Air with Fox 29" which airs twice on Sundays.
