Kuzguncuk

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Kuzguncuk is a district of Üsküdar, Istanbul, Turkey. It is one of the two Istanbul quarters deeply associated with Jewish settlement, the other one being Balat on the European side. In Kuzguncuk, an Armenian church sits next to a synagogue, and on the other side of the road a Greek Orthodox church is found beside a mosque. There is a Jewish cemetery in this quarter. After the establishment of Israel, the Jewish population, once a majority, in Kuzguncuk decreased to the current low levels.

It is a quiet town with a lot of old houses. The police station in Kuzguncuk was moved due to low crime statistics.

Many TV series in Turkey have been filmed in Kuzguncuk.
