[edit] Hey i am that guy who edited Gurnee (i wasn't signed in)

yeah i deleted nothing. I was adding facts about the flood. Nothing more. I was there. I know. i hate how all you Mods or whatever keep editing stuff when i try t help (except for the first few times a month ago the whole ballerina thing) but otherwise yeah i hope you get my point—This unsigned comment was added by CoasterFreak57 (talkcontribs) .

If you take a look at the results of your change (here: [1]), you can see that you also deleted large chunks of text from the article in random places. Since these deletions created an unreadable article with odd sentence fragements, the change was reverted. Since the IP you were using had a history of vandalism of the same type[2] (blanking), my assumption was that this was also intended as vandalism. I honestly missed the text you added about the flood, and I apologise for not assuming good faith. Please feel free and welcome to re-add the content, and I will simply correct any errors that pop up instead of revert the entire change. Kuru talk 23:59, 1 April 2006 (UTC)
Thanks. just get irritated when i add something that is useful (i have done it on Harry Potter and a few other places) and it is automatically assumed as vandalism. i know i have done it a few times (i think wih ballerina and one more page, but now i am serious. By the way i did not realize that I had deleted all that information.—This unsigned comment was added by CoasterFreak57 (talkcontribs) .

[edit] Monobook

I was coming across a talk page and I saw that you might possibly have a script in your monobook file that I've been looking for. I don't know what it's called, but it "automatically" inserts warnings into user talk pages, so to speak. I was just wondering if you had what I've been looking for all this time. --Pilotguy (talk ¦ ) 12:57, 5 April 2006 (UTC)

I do use a tool like that; it's Kbh3rd's Vandal Warning toolbox - and it has made me so very happy. I've modified it a bit to use the warnings I most frequently have need of, but you can find the original and instructions at User:Kbh3rd/Vandal warning toolbox. Kuru talk 23:00, 5 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Baker

HEY! Stop deleting my update of ther term "Baker"! It i a legitimate slang term used here in O.C., and I have taken the time to try to update it twice, and you deleted it all as vandalism. It is not vandalism! It is a legitimate Socal slang term like "dude", or "bodacious", or "rad." I am really slow at this and you have just wasted a lot of my valuable time. Why do you keep doing that? = SoCalFranchize—The preceding unsigned comment was added by 71.156.73.126 (talkcontribs) .

Thanks for asking for more feedback on your additions. There are two problems: (1) the term you're adding looks like a neologism that was just made up. If you can provide citations to articles or any other serious references to allow people to verify the definiton, that would be a great start. (2) the term, or any reference to it is not appropriate for the "baker" article, which is about the obvious usage of the term. You were absolutely on the right track by add a link to a disambiguation page, and then added a new page for "baker (pornography)", but a simple link to the disamb page suffices. Best of luck Kuru talk 03:36, 8 April 2006 (UTC)
O.K.....but how do you cite for a slang term? Even Webster just started including slang terms a few years ago, and this one is relatively new. I thought it would be cool to have it added to the content of your website so that wikipedia could be the first "official" or "legitimate" cite for the term, which is gaining popularity here in SoCal. How do I provide references for a slang term, particularly a relatively new slang term???
And if I were to just add the link to the page that I made explaining the term, instead of adding it to the "inappropriate" definition page, would it have been left alone? If that was where I errored, I will gladly put it back without the blurb on the popular use "baker" page.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by 71.156.73.126 (talkcontribs) .

Dang AOL proxies! I'd so love to block feebs like the one who hit my talk page, but AOL insists on being contrary. What makes it worse is that I use Netscape's ISP, and that's owned by AOL, and so, in a sense, I am an AOL IP user, as Netscape's IP's are through the AOL pool. [edit] Alamo Heights High School

Jeez, you did it to me too. I was innocently putting more information on the entry for the school that I ATTEND, so I think that I would know a little more about it than you. I don't know why you have taken it upon yourself to make sure "vandalism" doesn't occur, but it sure seems to me like you delete a lot of things that are actually helpful. Ok? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.123.204.155 (talkcontribs)

The edit in question [3] appears to be adding the comment "YEAH OX DADDY!!!!!!!" after a teacher's name. While I'm sure you're (rightfully) proud of your school and teachers, such a comment is not encyclopedic and that was the reason I reverted it. None of your other additions were affected. The message I left on your talk page assumed you made the change as a test. I'm not sure what you're refering to when you say I "delete a lot of things that are actually helpful" - if you could provide examples, I would be delighted to address your concerns. I was being kind in calling it simply nonsense when reverting your edit. Upon reviewing your edit history, it would appear that you have added the same commentary about six or seven times with several previous reversions. At that point, I can't continue to assume good faith, and your attempts to make edits despite the concerns of several other editors appears to be simple vandalism. Please continue to have discussions on the talk page before changing the article again. Thanks! Kuru talk 04:55, 30 April 2006 (UTC)

Would you possibly keep an eye on this page? An unregistered user seems to have started a vandalism campaign to revert to a version where s/he inserted one unsourced, unsupported sentence about her being rumored a Jew. [edit] entry

i entered some interesting pages which Kuru has said are spam. The pages relate to the topic for example alfa romeo i put a link to a page with a car show organised by the alfa romeo club. I think that some people are a little over enthusiastic with removal etc. I am new to this as you can probably guess. I just thought that surely a related article would be of interest to anyone looking at the Alfa Romeo page ? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 81.159.118.157 (talk • contribs) .

I reverted three of your links which did not directly point to anything on your website related to the topic at hand and seemed to clearly conflict with WP:EL. You have since replaced the links with more specific versions (that point to the topical page), so I assume you realized your mistake and a further explanation of my reversions is not necessary.
It would be fantastic if you could use your obviously advanced knowledge of the automotive industry to contribute to the content of the articles instead of simply adding links – we need all the help we can get to build the encyclopedia. I hope you stick around! Kuru talk 23:23, 16 May 2006 (UTC)
Thanks for your reply, yes i would like to write some articles on this great site, i put the links on because i thought they added something different and would be of interest. Yesterday was the first day that i have visited this site, so i think my enthusiasm was beyond my understanding of the site. [edit] Secrets Behind the Da Vinci Code

Kuru,

You deleted a link I added to Dan Brown's entry. This site, http://secretsbehindthedavincicode.wetpaint.com/, is not a commercial site anymore than Wikipedia is. It is an encyclopedic Wiki site that is directly related to Dan Brown and has full permission from author Dan Burstein to write on topics discussed behind his Da Vinci texts. Also, it is not a personal Web site. I am a contributor there, just as I am here. I have also added Wikipedia links to sites without problems- why the bias?

Amylopan 09:34, 22 May 2006 (UTC)

You linked several articles to the main page of a very small wiki which does not appear to have much in the way of relevant content. There would appear to be one interview on Dan Brown; which you have to find, and it is from another site. I also could find very little on Knights Templar and nothing on The Solomon Key, articles in which you also linked the site to. Adding the link very quickly to multiple seemingly unrealted pages is why I considered your attempts spamming rather than just adding an inappropriate link; please read WP:SPAM. I am not sure of what you're referring to in your last sentence; why do you feel I have a bias? Kuru talk 12:16, 22 May 2006 (UTC)

There is a history tab associated with each article. You can use it to look at every change made to an article. You can also use the "watch" tab to add an article to your own personal watchlist. This will show you when a watched article has been changed. Many aquatic articles are on my watchlist, so your changes to Ocellaris Clownfish and Clownfish were very apparent. Kuru: I am not sure if this how to talk to you. Are you going to let me write on dragon. I see you deleted my start.

Wuotan Wuotan 17:16, 17 June 2006 (UTC)

Absolutely, you are free to add anything you wish to the article. It may be removed if it cannot be verified or if it is off-topic for the article. In this particular case, you added only a section title and no other content for five hours and there were no indicators that you intended to make more edits, so I removed the empty section. It may be helpful to use the "Edit summary" field to indicate what you're trying to do. It may also be helpful to write the section offline and then enter it all at once. You can also add the {{underconstruction}} text to a section to indicate that there's more to follow. I hope this helps. Kuru talk 18:04, 17 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Ethical Codes

You removed the links I added for the book Developing A Code of Business Ethics. I understand your point for removing the link, but not for removing the reference. It is not a commercial advertisement - we are a not-for-profit charity and I felt the reference would be of use to anyone wanting more information on this subject. Perhaps you would like to review the information first before you dismiss it as advertising. [5] Is a genuine non-commercial resource.

I review all links before I see added, and I very rarely remove them. The link to the front page of your website has no actual content I could locate quickly - all I could see were advertisements for selling your publications, and offers to subscribe to your services, and descriptions of your organization. I cannot see how this adds value to the articles you added it to. Since you added no other content to the article, I am not sure how you are using your publication as a cite or as a resource - so my assumption is that it is simple promotion for the publication which is being sold at your site. It does not matter that your organization is not-for-profit; it would appear that you are simply trying to promote yourself. If you could explain how this book is more notable than the other hundreds of books on ethics, that would be very helpful. If you could add some significant content to the encyclopedia, and then cite your publication, that would also lend acceptance to including it as a reference. Thanks! Kuru talk 01:53, 22 June 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for the advice; that's made it a lot clearer and I shall certainly do as you suggest.

[edit] External Links in Access

Be consistent - What are you talking about... What about all the other links - Which are Commercial links...

What is your criteria for a commercial link in the MS Access Area

Xenia007 23:28, 26 June 2006 (UTC)

I'm not fond of any commercial links unless they add significant value to the article; a simple link to a consultant's pitch is not acceptable. The applicable policy is at WP:EL; this is not a link repository, and there are several other links in that list that probably will get cleaned up when I get a moment. Thanks for asking! Kuru talk 23:30, 26 June 2006 (UTC)
Xenia007 23:35, 26 June 2006 (UTC):Ok great then take off the ones which go to a page that have AD SENSE ON THEM - otherwise its imcomprehensible why you removed my link and leave those...
since the link i did have up there is linked to from around the world... its probably one of the best explanations of WHY access is NOT a database... i repeat access is not a database... anyway what's the use..
Xenia007 22:59, 27 June 2006 (UTC)
The Advertisment links in MS Access are STILL there...
for example... http://www.databasedev.co.uk/ - which is a link in external links GOES right to a page with AD Sense..
so do these...
http://www.functionx.com/access/index.htm
http://www.utteraccess.com/
http://www.yaccess.com/
http://www.drewslair.com/desk/access_series/Intro.htm
http://alexdyb.blogspot.com/
so what about them they all have ADS on them and mine did not...
Many of those sites have content that far outweighs the small ads they've placed on the site and I've removed those that do not. I've looked at each link and commented on them at Talk:Microsoft_Access. If you're really interested in helping examine the list; feel free to continue the discussion there.
If you're simply trying to promote your one page ad for Access as an "enterprise level programming toolkit"; I still don't think it's an appropriate link. Feel free to build the information into the article, as long as the information is neutral in tone and verifiable. We could really use someone with your obviously competent knowledge of software development to help with a variety of articles. Thanks! Kuru talk 00:36, 28 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Online Marketing

I tried to add an external link from this page to a page with good links that are ranked by people on oozm search engine tags on online marketing and you removed that external link. Why are those not considered relevant data in the age of new technology where people have a say? Just like wikipedia? Why is this spam? Don't you want people to find what is relevant as rated by people just like you? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 65.94.158.102 (talkcontribs) .
I wish you the very best of luck in lauching your new website - it looks very interesting. It does not, however, seem to add anything to the articles you've linked it to. At the current time, there is very litte content - I'm not sure how a link to links of six or seven other sites with a handful of "ratings" builds on the article. You can look at the guidelines for external links at WP:EL. I'm afraid the rest of your questions seem to be assumptions that I can not help you with. Thanks! Kuru talk 02:57, 28 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] The ChicoProject Editor

Sir, I am the editor of The ChicoProject Wiki. I am sorry for the poor quality of this article, but it is my first article on Wikipedia.
I am defiantly not trying to spam Wikipedia with this article.
I was going to try to counter some of your arguments against The ChicoProject via data from Google analytics, but being an IT professional I’m sure you have access to similar analytical tools, so would you please give me some tips or suggestions on how to make my Wiki page better? Well, I didn't say the article was in poor shape - my point was merely to address how your group meets the guidelines for having an article here. The applicable guidelines for a company are listed at WP:CORP, and they're a little bit on the tight side. Some of the comments about it looking like an ad were because of the non-neutral tone of many of the points in the article. This one of the reasons we also have guidelines on vanity articles (referenced at WP:VANITY) - many people have difficulty in writing articles on subjects where they have a conflict of interest. You apparently really like your company, and that's great, but it makes it difficult to write in the neutral article we require here. I love the company I work for as well, and I would never, ever touch their article here for that reason. Kuru talk 22:39, 30 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Spam

if it is on subject then it is not spam so stop removing the urls —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 66.75.255.98 (talkcontribs) .

I'll meet you half way. It's on-topic spam. You've inserted your links into the same two articles more than 200 times, and they've been reverted 200 times by dozens of editors. You've been blocked on 19 different IPs at least 22 times. You've been given the same message over and over again. If you have a new arguement to make, please start a conversation on either of the article's talk pages. Kuru talk 22:49, 30 June 2006 (UTC)
