[edit] Stryker Trivia information and picture

I just contributed with some interesting trivia about Stryker as well as a picture of him from the MK:A krypt. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Diantedit (talkcontribs) 18:36, 20 February 2007 (UTC).

[edit] MK3 vs MK Trilogy

I don't understand why people keep trying to force the issue with which game Stryker first appeared in, my only guess is that some people never played the arcade versions or never had MK3 for their console and assume Stryker is only in Trilogy. The release date for MK3 was 1995, and the release date for Trilogy was 1996; so it's a fair assumption he first appeared in MK3 and it should say stay as such.

His first appearance was definitely MK3. I used to play as him on the coin-op quite often. The confusion with this is due to the games MK3, Ultimate MK3, and MK Trilogy. Think of UMK3 as sort of an update to MK3, and MKT and an update to UMK3. They expand on the previous version and explain a little bit more than the one before it.
Agreed. People need to learn the difference between talking about the story, and talking about real life. Only when talking about the story, do you ignore the games it has replaced. So Stryker first appeared in MK3, but his story should be taken from MKT. SilentRage 06:07, 7 July 2006 (UTC)
Where is story is taken from, I don't think it matters. I mean his intro and ending are exactly the same in all the 3 versions of MK3. But I'm not sure what characters intros and endings tie into his. But as far as his ending is concerned, we won't know until MK Armageddon if it will be canon or not. Please note edit of this anon. I think it's nonsense, but i don't know the subject.Mikereichold 05:17, 25 January 2006 (UTC)

---Fan of Stryker--- I really appreciated his charatcer for being the most down to earth. He was a normal white dude, with guns. And a guy who can destroy his enemies with gun while they make a big productions out of ice, fire, and acid spit is a hero in my book.

[edit] least popular character

Is it true that he is the least popular character? Because they say the unpopular characters in MKA are going to be killed off and Stryker was stated to be one of them. --Triple-Quadruple 16:17, 26 July 2006 (UTC)

Open to interpretation, I say. For every single thing that's hated, there's a cult following attached to it and Stryker is no exception. We won't know who dies in MK: Armageddon for definite until the game comes out. Minty Fresh Death 20:32, 1 August 2006 (UTC)

Stryker has a unique love-hate relationship with fans, from what I've seen. For the most part, he is one of the most hated characters in the game, because his appearance, storyline, and special moves are considered too 'ordinary' and 'common-man' to be feasable in the otherwise sword-and-sorcery world of MK. On the flip side to that, he's considered one of the highest-tier characters in the game, because of the sheer amount of punishment his combos can pull off. He's essentially the opposite of Shinnok, who fans believe has a strong storyline and appearance, but really sucky playability.SynjoDeonecros 10:39, 10 October 2006 (UTC)

I'm confused. These reasons for disliking Stryker seem fairly ridiculous. I really don't see how he's any different from characters like Sonya and Jax. Both of these characters are fairly ordinary, at least, they were when they were introduced, likewise their design. --Serph 10:13, 9 February 2007 (UTC)

Serph, that is SO true. But you know most "fans". (Not of MK specifically but of most anything) They are usually whiny, elitist, snobs that feel that every subjective opinion they come up with is some kind of undeniable "fact", and that everyone of the believe that their opinion is the only one that actually matters. Even when, for good reasons like you have stated, their opinions not only turn out to be badly reasoned ones, but also stupid ones.

[edit] Weapon

Was it confirmed that Stryker's weapon in MKA will be a nightstick? If so, what's with those combat knives attached to his back? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 200.231.177.3 (talkcontribs)

Yes, it's confirmed that his weapons are Nightsticks. Dunno what's up with the combat knives, though; most likely, they're just there for decoration.66.233.188.87 02:15, 14 October 2006 (UTC)
I don't think it has been confirmed (with 62 characters, who the hell wants to play with Stryker? :P), but just because there are weapons on his person doesn't mean they'd be used; as I recall, Scorpion has two swords in Deception, but only uses one of them. EVula 18:15, 4 October 2006 (UTC)
Hey!! I like Stryker. Why is everyone always bashing the riot cop? I think if you check out the character videos on the official page, it will show what his weapon is, as well. -SaturnYoshi THE VOICES 19:48, 4 October 2006 (UTC)
More:
Then again, a Stryker video hasn't been uploaded yet. But soon... -SaturnYoshi THE VOICES 19:50, 4 October 2006 (UTC)
Actually, I like him a lot more now that he has a new costume; he actually looks pretty bad-ass. Before, it just seemed like they needed some new character for MK3 and just tossed him in.
I found an older movie on YouTube[1] that features Stryker using nightsticks versus Goro (unsuccessfully, but he at least did have them). EVula 20:11, 4 October 2006 (UTC)
Pah!! Goro's not so tough. I did see a recent video, though, where the creators comment on how they changed Stryker to appeal to more fans this time. The video is called Official Movie 7. -SaturnYoshi THE VOICES 23:32, 5 October 2006 (UTC)

i would rather play as striker then johny cage anyday after cages mk4 ending i cant take him serosly Sailor cuteness 14:28, 17 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] New York Cop

According to his character card in the PS2 limited editon DVD of MK Armageddon, he's NYPD, as opposed to "a police officer from a large east coast city" in MK3. I've added the NYPD bit to the article. CardinalFangZERO 02:46, 16 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Stryker in Shujinko's ending

Currently, user Subzero961 has added the claim that Stryker only appears in the Unchained version of Shujinko's ending, while violating the three-revert rule quite impressively in the process. However, this is definitely incorrect. This "Stryker" figure also appears in the regular Deception console versions of Shujinko's ending, and this can be easily verified by beating the game and checking out said ending screens (Or, for the lazy, simply check this picture). Despite repeated attempts at asking for this user to user to correct his statement and refrain from original research, Subzero961 has refused to comply. In addition to also lacking any sort of reliable source, there is currently more than enough justification to remove this statement altogther. MarphyBlack 01:19, 24 March 2007 (UTC)

The ending in Deception is cropped in its sides so even though Stryker is there, he can't be seen. Dmr2hn1 15:45 06.05.2007

The Deception ending is not cropped. It's the exact same picture seen in Unchained. See this picture for confirmation of this fact. MarphyBlack 20:09, 6 May 2007 (UTC)
I know it is the exact same picture. It seems my TV isn't wide enough. Or it is PSP which is very wide. Are you sure that picture is not taken from PSP? Dmr2hn1 17:09 07.05.2007
