[edit] Titles

There's a lot of confusion in the translations, I suppose -- e.g. "head", "chief", "boss", "leader", "governor". The governance structure seems to still be the soviet leading up to municipal, then regional, then provincial supreme soviets. I'm assuming he was "elected" chairman of a supreme soviet rather than "elected" governor of a province in the Western sense. If anyone can find better information on this it would help. --Dhartung | Talk 07:14, 12 July 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Bit removed pending confirmation

Bakiyev was charged with sexual offenses against male youths in 1972 and 1975 but all charges were dropped and Bakiyev's office today claims that they were politically motivated.

The contributor is also responsible for this and this edit, which makes me skeptical of the claim until a source is found.--Pharos 07:58, 15 August 2005 (UTC)
