Kuroda Hidetada
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Kuroda Hidetada (黒田秀忠? 1492 - 1546) was a senior retainer beneath the clan of Nagao throughout the latter Sengoku Period of Feudal Japan. Supporting his respective lord--Nagao Tamekage--in the latter's aspirations to destroy the Shiina and Jinbo clans, Hidetada was awarded governorship over Niiyama castle, succeeding to become one of the primary retainers beneath the succeeding heir to Nagao: Harukage. Following the death of Tamekage and Harukage's initial succession, after putting an end to the competing Kageyasu, Hidetada continued to support his new master, despite the former's weak character, and resolutely defended the castle of Niiyama throughout Nagao Kagetora's initial attack in 1546. Unfortunately however, Hidetada would become bested by Kagetora's respective supporter--Takanashi Sadayori--and was thus besieged of his position by that same year, presently committing suicide in retortion to suffering such a humiliating defeat.
