Kurichy is a small village in the district of Kottayam in southern India. It lies on the main Central Road which runs through the entire state of Kerala. The nearest towns to Kurichy is Changanacherry and Kottayam. Kurichy is 7 kilometers from Changanacherry by bus.

Kurichy was formerly called as "Gurushreepuram", meaning "the land of Vishnu[Guru] and Lakshmi[Shree]", which got mispronounced all through the years to its current form.

The main attraction of Kurichy is that it is a very green and calm place. Kurichy has a minor seminary, an engineering college (Saint Gits) and also a Homeo college. The central area of this small village is called " Kurichy Out Post", dates back to an earlier Police OutPost. The land is blessed by the goddess of "Cherupparakkavu", 1.5 km away from Kurichy out post.

Other important temples are - 1) Ednaattu Indalayappa Swami Temple, 2) Thrikkapaleswarm Shiva temple 3) Shankarapuram Shiva Temple etc. Makaravilakku Utsavam at Indalayappa Swami temple is very famous. On the day of Makaravilakku lot of devotees will come with "Irumudi Kettu" that too with Vrtham (Upvas) to this temple and "Ghee Abhishekham" will take place at 11.10pm. Indalayappa is also known as "Edanattu Valiachchan".

Two famous Kathakali artists were born in Kurichy - Kurichy Kunjampanickkar Aasan and Kurichy Krishna Pilla.

Kurichy is also the home of Anglican Church of India. The headquarters of the church is located near the Main Central Road (MC Road). The majority Christians are Syrian Christians in Kurichy. Kurichy is a place consists of many famous Churches. Saint Mary's Jacobite Syrian Soonoro Church Puthenpally is famous for its name where people get lot of blessings through Virgin Mary's prayer.

The famous churches in Kurichy are Mar Ignatius Knanaya church, St. Mary's Orthodox Church (Kurichy Chapel) located at Outpost Junction, St: Peters and st: pauls Orthodox church (Kurichy Valiyapally) which was established in 1831 A.D by malankara orthodox people in kurichy. This church is located in a very cool, calm and greener place in Kurichy. It is situated 2 km far west from Kurichy out post junction.

The major families in Kurichy are: Chandrathil, Pallathara, Kalappurackal, Thayyil, Kottuppallil, Karunattu, Maamoottil, Madathil and Neicherri.
