Kurali(ਕੁਰਾਲੀ)is a city located geographically in the south eastern part of Punjab. It is 26 km away from the state capital i.e. Chandigarh. Kurali is situated on the national highway 21. This highway leads to Jammu and Kashmir. Towns in the proximity of Kurali are Kharar, Ropar and Morinda on respective three sides. This city was a very popular market for Jaggery and Groudnuts for a long period of time and it is a famous market for sunflower and sugarcane. Kurali is developed industrially as Government Industrial Area was developed around 15 years ago.

Kurali is approachable by both Road and train transportation. Nearest airport is Chandigarh Airport around 30 km. There are very good educational institutes in the city with Colleges, Schools. Chakwal Senior Secondary School is the oldest institute in city and National Public school is first English Medium school in the area.

Political Status:- Ujjagar Singh Badali is MLA from here (2007) working honestly from last 40 years and all his work is managed by Manjit Singh Mavi (Chairman-The Punjab State Co-operative Bank, District SAS Nagar Mohali). S. Badali has great goals to make kurali and Morinda an advanced cities in punjab and creating jobs by bringing big companies to the city. Kurali's proximity to Chandigarh & Mohali is acting as a force to make the city a part of the territory of New Chandigarh. S. Badali has major goals to improve education and bringing new projects in his constituency. Major Projects he brought is an Electricity Generating project in Morinda sugar mill aligned with Japan based company which will helps in providing more jobs. Another project is with Singapore Based Company, Jurong International Private Ltd, for reviewing and preparing to develop four cities in District which are Kurali, Mullanpur, Kharar and Zirakpur.

Cultural Status:- The town is known to have been established by a kshatriya clan hailing from Bikaner in Rajasthan. Major Singh Nagra from a nearby village Khera is a well known broadcaster in Toronto Canada, where he runs his own 24/7 radio Station Watan and a Watan weekly Newspaper. Kurali has a Rotary Club and Lions Club. Punjab Motors is an agency which sells Heavy Duty Trucks and is the first agency to sell Mercedez cars in Punjab. Kurali is famous for Swami ji nadi par wale and Gosian wala, which are revered by people from all religions, there is an annual mela at Gosain wala (near railway station). Kurali is famous for hakims. The famous include Hakim Teja singh, Hakim Badan singh, Hakim Rajinder singh. Hakim Rajinder Singh was also Ex-president MC kurali. One famous singer named surjit Bindrakhiya also hailed form the native village "bindrakh".He was known for his traditional songs especially for his 34 seconds haiq (one breath loud scream).
