Wikispaces entry

Hi, I'm Adam one of the guys who runs wikispaces.com.

We noticed yesterday that you've deleted the wikispaces entry. We weren't aware there was a proposed deletion.

In any case, I'd be happy to hear why the entry was deleted so that we can either get the entry back up or better understand why it's down.

Thanks, Adam

Hey Adam, this is Adam. This was the reason for proposed deletion- No indicated notability, seems to fail WP:WEB and WP:SOFTWARE.--Kungfu Adam (talk) 17:23, 8 August 2006 (UTC)
Thanks for the quick response. I would argue that we qualify at least under clauses 1, 2, and 6 on WP:SOFTWARE. We've been regularly profiled by our members and independent third parties since we launched and are pretty regularly noted as being innovative and a leader in our space. Moreover, there are several other entries on Wikipedia which detail wiki hosting services which are equally or less qualifying under these criteria than we are. So I'd either recommend we reinstate the entry or apply the policy across the board. Thanks. Adam (Wikispaces)

List of photographers known for portraying males erotically on deletion review

An editor has asked for a deletion review of List of photographers known for portraying males erotically. Since you closed the deletion discussion for (or speedy-deleted) this article, your reasons on how or why you did so will be greatly appreciated in the above review. Block of User:Obvioustroll

I see you blocked this user indefinately, and although I know of this user, and he isn't a troll, your block was entirely appropriate on the basis of the username. However, I would ask that you give a block reason in these cases of "Inappropriate username" rather than just "Troll", and you should put {{usernameblock}} on their talk page. You might like to read the discussion of this block at User talk:Obvioustroll and Hulver's site.-gadfium 22:12, 1 August 2006 (UTC)

LA Freewaves Copyright

I'm not sure why this was deleted earlier, but again, I was given permission by the Director, Anne Bray, to create this page. Could you please respond to me?

Check WP:CP, you have to assert permission. However, this is blatant advertising, and the article will surely be deleted anyhow.--Kungfu Adam (talk) 19:35, 27 July 2006 (UTC)

Why are you trying to delete the LA Freewaves article? This is an ongoing, biennial festival. I am documenting the organization and festivals, what do I have to change to keep it from being deleted? Again, this is not advertising, this is information about what LA Freewaves does. We are not trying to sell anything, all events are free, the website is free, nobody is making money from this except artists.

Why do you insist on trying to get my page deleted? This is neither copyright infringement nor "blatant advertising." Again, we do not make money, we are a nonprofit organization. Advertising only is worth the time if money is to be made, yet I am only providing information on the founder/director, organization, and a list of recent film festivals and artists. What is the problem?

What part of the page do you think is advertisement? You don't have to delete the entire page in order to fix the advertisement issue. This doesn't seem fair to me. Freewaves is 17 years old and has had 9 film festivals with artists from all over the world? Where is the advertisement in that?

I went over the LA Freewaves page and took out any subjective words and rhetoric that could be mistaken for advertising. All information contained within the page are based on factual numbers, dates, and participation of artists. There is no copyright infringement since the organization and director of LA Freewaves have given me direct permission to create a page for the purpose of documenting LA Freewaves. Meaning, wikipedia is not held liable for any legal purposes since I have stated that I received permission. The changes can be seen in the temp page. Could you please tell User:Bigtop to cancel the deletion nomination?--Freewaves 22:03, 27 July 2006 (UTC)

The beauty of AFD is that the community decides whether or not the article is kept. We will get a community consensus, and who knows? It could be kept.--Kungfu Adam (talk) 23:52, 27 July 2006 (UTC)

I think deleting the entry would deprive future generations of a piece of the Los Angeles underground film scene that otherwise would not be recorded except in print and the festival's website.--Freewaves 01:09, 28 July 2006 (UTC)

  • Extensive changes have been made to LA Freewaves--69.232.179.158 20:45, 31 July 2006 (UTC)
At this point, it looks like the AFD will pass with no consensus. Per my practice, I do not close AFDs that I open, so someone else will do that--Kungfu Adam (talk) 21:29, 31 July 2006 (UTC)

Do I wait for someone to close the AFD? Or should I ask around/post the need for someone to close it?--Freewaves 00:03, 1 August 2006 (UTC)

Wait for someone to close it.--Kungfu Adam (talk) 00:43, 1 August 2006 (UTC)

I have made futher extensive edits to the LA Freewaves page and require you to either ask someone to remove the AfD nomination or to assist in the peer review. Seeing as how you and User:BigTop started this round of editing, it is only fair if you help to bring this page up to the criteria you are upholding it to.--Freewaves 19:03, 2 August 2006 (UTC)

My RfA

Thankyou for your participation in my RfA. Due to an almost even spread of votes between Oppose and Support (Final (16/13/6)) I have decided to withdraw for now and re-apply in a couple of months as suggested. I thank everyone for their kind support of my editorial skills; it meant a lot to me to get such strong recommendations from my fellow editors. If you ever have any hints as to how I can improve further, I would love to hear from you. ViridaeTalk 15:24, 2 August 2006 (UTC)

Help With Someone You Blocked For Vandalism

You blocked this guy User_talk:68.235.159.205 for vandalism on article Strip_club a few days ago. As I've detailed on his talk page, he has a history of spamming links for websites that are laden with ads for prostitutes and porn--all owned by the same company (Cybertech).

The way that he keeps coming back and re-adding spam links that I remove leads me to believe that he gets a very high CPM rate on his ads. If you are familiar with CPM, you know that a webmaster gets paid for each impression of the ad shown. So it is in his best interest that people land on his pages.

You blocked him once, but clearly he won't stop since he has a financial incentive to continue his spamming actions. Is there anything you can do about this? I'd hate to see a guy use Wikipedia to put money in his own pocket for promoting porn and prostitution. If action isn't taken, he won't stop.

Thank you.

Edit: I think he registered to get a username L00ker. Monkeybreath 21:36, 2 August 2006 (UTC)

I've nominated Nourhanne for the AfD process. Given your talk page comment, you appear to have been interested. Nysin 22:21, 3 August 2006 (UTC)

Night photography

Was that a mistake, moving Night photography tips onto Night photography and reverting? So now the tips page is a redirect. Are you going to just leaving it like that, or can you restore Night photography tips? Actually, deleting it would be a better option, which I presume you were trying to do. --Imroy 22:50, 4 August 2006 (UTC)

It's not a mistake, it's a history merge, as discussed on the talk page. The revert reverted to the last good version of Night photography--Kungfu Adam (talk) 22:53, 4 August 2006 (UTC)

MV Article

So how would I go about writing about the history of the organization when that history is on a webpage? I know the webmaster of the official site, would you prefer that I have them send you a note giving me permission to do so?

My RfA and your vote

Hi Adam,
Thanks for participating in my RFA! Ultimately, no consensus was reached, but I still appreciate the fact that you showed up to add in your two cents. You can feel free to talk to me about it or add some advice on my improvement page.

Closing prods

Hi, just wondering if you could be a little more careful with your deletion log entries when deleting "prodded" articles. I was looking for gestalt entity and the only explanation of the deletion in the log was 'closing prod' - for non-admins who didn't see the original prod (like me), it's hard to fathom what happened, and why there's no article. Even just repeating the original reason for the prod by the original nominator would be a big help. There's this comment at WP:PROD "If you agree that the article should be deleted, delete it giving an informative deletion reason, such as that given by the nominator, not just expired prod." ...thanks. Stevage 16:43, 5 August 2006 (UTC)

The reason for the deletion was Unsourced (WP:V); the eclectic Google results do not inspire any confidence. Probably a neologism and/or WP:OR. It would be impossible for me to put the reason on all of them, because I use an automated script to clear the logs. It would be very labor intensive to do otherwise because there are hundreds per day.--Kungfu Adam (talk) 16:49, 5 August 2006 (UTC)
Ok, then there's a problem - there's an active process, which apparently is too difficult to follow properly. Why don't you discuss it at WP:PROD? I'm not questioning your deletion of the page (I don't know anything about what "gestalt entity" means), but it'd definitely be helpful if there was a way of subsequent visitors finding out what the prod was originally about...Stevage 21:44, 5 August 2006 (UTC)
They have five days to do that. The article is deleted five days after.--Kungfu Adam (talk) 23:31, 5 August 2006 (UTC)

reverted change to ncurses page

There are two links for Cdk. One is to the article that describes the version of Cdk which I maintain (and still has Mike Glover's name on it), and the other is for Vexus (which is Mike Glover). It would be nice to get this clarified; my correction was a step in that direction. Tedickey 01:29, 6 August 2006 (UTC)

Bonza Bottler Day - I contest its proposed deletion

Thank you for alerting me that the article I posted, Bonza Bottler Day, has been proposed for deletion for a second time. I posted a response and see that Joe Kress did, too. Please let me know if there are any changes the article requires to ensure that it meets Wikipedia standards and does not get deleted. Thank you much! Lisatolliver 19:52, 6 August 2006 (UTC)

Screenshots

Why were Image:Cyrus Bortel.jpg, Image:Team Impossible.jpg, and Image:Yori.jpg deleted? They were low-resolution screenshots of the characters in question. I believe that the screenshot license applies to the images. =) Jumping cheese Contact 06:30, 6 August 2006 (UTC)

They had no source for more than seven days.--Kungfu Adam (talk) 11:22, 6 August 2006 (UTC)
They were screenshots of the television screen...so how do I source that? I thought that the scrrenshot license was sufficient. ^_^ Jumping cheese Contact 00:53, 7 August 2006 (UTC)

Deletion of "is this music?" article

hello

I'm not sure what happened here - I posted this article last week but could find no response, and eventually discovered that it had made its way into the archive, untouched. so I thought I might as well repost it, there's nothing else to add.

Thanks Hi

Nickelshoe directed me towards yourself as the admin who was actually repsonsible for the deletion of the article mentioned below, after it was uncontested after 5 days (I was remiss in checking my messages at that time). I've pasted in the chat between us so hopefully you have all the details that you might need to reinstate the piece. I'm happy to expand/elaborate on it, but as I say below, I don't want to get into a create/delete cycle, so thought I should see if it was ok to reinstate it first.

NIckelshoe asked me to contact yourself for advice as he reckons going through WP:AFD to restore might not be that simple. Hope that's ok.

Thanks

Stuart

editor@isthismusic.com

Thanks for the message. A very rational message, in fact. You see, I go thru the list of articles proposed for deletion fairly regularly, to make sure that people know that articles they started are up for deletion and how to proceed from there. A lot of people misunderstand my message and think I've proposed the article for deletion myself and/or I deleted it. They frequently take out their frustration on me, the messenger.

The only reason I cited the web guidelines is because there aren't specific magazine guidelines, and I thought looking at some specific guidelines would be helpful, even if they didn't directly apply. The web guidelines are fairly standard, mostly requiring attention from secondary sources. I just thought it might give you some ideas for how to improve the article. If you'd like the article restored, that can be done. WP:PROD is for uncontroversial deletions only, so any objection, even after the fact, means the article should be kept. I however am not an admin, so I can't do it myself. If you click the redlink, then deletion log, you'll see that User:Kungfuadam is the admin who carried out the deletion after it was uncontested for five days. If you talk to him, he should help you out.

Be sure, of course, to do what you can to make the magazine's notability clear, so it doesn't get deleted again. If it goes thru WP:AFD, restoring the article isn't quite as simple. By the way, I'm sure you're right that we have articles on less notable subjects. Unfortunately, we do have lots of articles that we haven't got around to deleting yet and get more every day. Anyway, let me know if you need anything else. NickelShoe (Talk) 14:26, 2 August 2006 (UTC)

Hi I wanted to query the deletion of the entry on Scottish music magazine is this music? on grounds of "notability". (I didn't access Wikipedia after i submitted this, a few weeks ago, so wasn't able to contest the deletion. I'm not sure exactly what 'Notability' means, but I can see many items on Wikipedia which are less well-known, in general terms, than this magazine (which I admit, isn't widely distributed in America). You only need type the word 'fanzine' into Wikipedia to see what I mean. There's also our main 'claim to fame' in our fetauring the first ever interview in print wiht Franz Ferdinand (the popular music group, not the historical figure). I believe they're doing quite well for themsleves all around the world, and is this music? is referenced in Franz's own Wiki entry, which was the reason I created the deleted entry, to helpe elaborate on the Franz piece. I also note that there is some mention of 'web-only' content. I didn't really understand this. itm? is a print magazine - we have a website, yes, but who doesn't these days? Anyway, if you could restore the piece that would be great, or I can recreate it again (but don't wnt to get into a create/delete cycle - if you have any hints on how a new piece could be retained within WIki I'd be grateful)

Thanks

Stuart Smchughuk 13:15, 7 August 2006 (UTC)editor@isthismusic.com 7th August 2006

I have no clue what all this about. The article was recreated for quite some time.--Kungfu Adam (talk) 13:27, 7 August 2006 (UTC)

Restore LA Freewaves

When will the page be restored? The decision was made to keep, but I still can't see my own page. What do I need to do?

Temp page was moved to main page. However, there were two issues there, and I am not sure if the copyright issue has been resolved, but oh well.--Kungfu Adam (talk) 20:01, 7 August 2006 (UTC)

Bernardo Sorj

You deleted Bernardo Sorj quite correctly (closing prod uncontested since 25 July), and someone has reposted an article by the same title, which will probably be speedied. I added a list of his books to the article (I found the titles at the Library of Congress web site at http://catalog.loc.gov ) , and the books, taken together with his other accompalishments, seem to be an adequate assertion of notability. TruthbringerToronto (Talk | contribs) 01:01, 8 August 2006 (UTC)

After my previous message, an AfD process began. If you are interested, please see Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Bernardo Sorj. TruthbringerToronto (Talk | contribs) 02:39, 8 August 2006 (UTC)

Coghead

I was referring someone to a page we created for our company "Coghead" and found today that it had been deleted, apparently by you? Can you fill me in on the protocol for deletion? Why was the page deleted? We spent considerable time trying to follow whatever protocols we could find for creating a "stub" and I don't understand why it would have been removed. Can you retrieve the page for us so we can fix any problems there? --Smitter1

Sorry, I am not inclined to restore it because Wikipedia is not an advertising platform.--Kungfu Adam (talk) 21:12, 9 August 2006 (UTC)
This is exactly why we went to some effort to research the protocols, and provide nothing but facts, and avoid any marketing speak. Literally there was hardly any text at all on the page as we are merely trying to register the company as a stub on Wikipedia so people can find it and learn a little about what we do. Was the page worse than this example http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Meebo? Can you point me to some guidelines that explain the basis you had for removing it? Please restore the page and let us know how to improve it. That would be much more helpful. --Smitter1
From the "Not" page, under "Advertising". "Articles about companies and products are acceptable if they are written in an objective and unbiased style. Furthermore, all article topics must be third-party verifiable..." The Coghead submission meets all of these criteria. Let me know how to fix, if needed. --Smitter1
Well, you can't really write an objective article about yourself. If it were notable, someone else would be writing about it.--Kungfu Adam (talk) 00:22, 10 August 2006 (UTC)

deletion of second nature recordings article

Hi there. You've deleted the article on second nature recordings due to an uncontested closing warning which lasted five days. sorry if i'm not understanding it right, but is it correct that if noone responds the article can be deleted? Preston Hellings F.C. prod

I just saw this article go up for AfD. You removed the prod stating that "prod was contested", but there was never a prod on the article as best as I could tell. (There was a speedy tag on the 2nd edit, removed on the 3rd, however, but that's not a prod) Did you mean to contest the prod yourself, or were you removing it administratively as an invalid prod? It may have never needed to go up for AfD if the prod had acted out. Kevin_b_er 07:26, 14 August 2006 (UTC)

Email Notification Upon prod?

Greetings, just noticed that the article for Go Nuts Donuts was deleted on the 9th of August just today (14th of August) when I was about to update it with the new details from the company. As I have no problems as to why it was deleted, I just want to note that I didn't received any email notification of an edit/prod/deletion when it was first marked as such, and for that, I wasn't able to defend the article within the 5-day limit (even though I have my preferences properly setup to send me email - and the watch this page checked for the said article). Or am I mistaken (please correct me I'm wrong) and there was not supposed to be any email sent to the article author or those who checked it for watchlist? Thank you very much, just looking for clarification. More power. --- Laibcoms (talk | Contribs) 08:47, 14 August 2006 (UTC)

Please discuss this at WP:PROD in the the discussion area. I have been trying to get a bot going to notify creators of articles, but it has come with some resistance. It is impossible and time-consuming to notify people of an upcoming prod. Please also read this- [5] and comment if necesary. This request is supposed to fix this very problem, but it doesn't look like it will pass. If you would like, comment there.--Kungfu Adam (talk) 10:51, 14 August 2006 (UTC)

I think people should not revert the talk page of an article

Hi Kungfuadam, I saw your revert on Talk:Accession of Turkey to the European Union and forgive me when I say that I find what you did really inappropriate. As you know, the reason for that page to exist is to give people a common place to talk about the article. The practice of reverting applies to Wikipedia articles (where people are trying to maintain an encyclopedia article), not article talk pages (where people express their views on the situation of the article and how it might be improved). One cannot simply "revert" what people think and what they have to say. Regards, Atilim Gunes Baydin 23:28, 15 August 2006 (UTC)

House of Representatives block

Greetings! I have unblocked the House IP address; two weeks is something of an overlong block for an IP address shared by hundreds of people for the level of disruption it was causing. Particularly in the case of the House IP, the edits are watched and the general source is known (by us, and by the news media, who have caught on that this is where to find the juicy stuff). Perhaps we need a better procedure for blocks involving the House and Senate considering their situation, but we've started hearing about the House block already.

Please also read this- [7] and comment if necesary. regarding this article, it's on DrV. (where it is running overturn pretty solidly) The article doesn't look like it met speedy criteria to me, and someone else recreated it. In order to give them the original test to work with I have undeleted the two deleted revisions. I welcome review of my actions in this regard. ++Lar: t/c 18:31, 17 August 2006 (UTC)

Charles Anglin article deletion

Can I ask why this article has been deleted?

It was proposed for deletion on July 15th for the reason Being a councillor and failed legislature candidate does not meet WP:BIO. Kungfu Adam (talk) 22:20, 17 August 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for the quick response.

No doubt very senible, though by that criteria you bshould probably delet the stub artcile on current councillor Steve Reed and the attack article on former Councillor Keith Fitchett.

I would have thought though that given the bulk of the article covers the story around a tabloid newspaper 'sexpose' during an election that it met the 'notoriety for a news story criteria' and possiblly even meets the criteria for both the major local political figures who received significant press coverage & numerous Google or other search engine hits.

Also, the WP on candidates & elections says 'As a compromise between those who would keep all candidate articles and those who would delete all articles on yet-unelected candidates, this guideline states that articles on elections should be written before articles on individual candidates. Only if and when there is enough independent, verifiable information to write a non-stub article on a candidate should one be written.' This seems to be the case here.

I would ask you to reconsider & re-post the article

The existence of one article doesn't merit the inclusion of another. But per policy, I must restore it, and further deletion attempts must be done through WP:AFD.--Kungfu Adam (talk) 11:06, 18 August 2006 (UTC)

Please explain delete

Adam?

I had posted an article (KDCalc) which you deleted. To the best of my understanding this was a neutral point of view article describing a software product.

I understand that wikipedia should not be used for promotion, hence the the neutral informational tone.

I think the tone and approach of the aritcle is indistigushable from these other aticles about software products:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SpreadsheetGear_for_.NET http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TK_Solver http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Google_Spreadsheets http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dreamweaver

Please explain why the KDCalc article was deleted when these other remain.

Also, I had a watch? on the article, yet received no email informing me of the delete.

Thanks.

It was proposed for deletion. I don't understand "I had a watch." You won't receive emails on changes to articles, they are on your watchlist. Anyhow, it was recreated again, and promptly deleted as spam, so it does not merit inclusion in Wikipedia. The existence of other articles on Wikipedia has no bearing on the inclusion of others. Also, these examples you gave are better known and wider used.--Kungfu Adam (talk) 15:08, 18 August 2006 (UTC)
Thanks for the fast reply. Beg to differ, though. Why does being "better known" enter the equation? All the sites are feature lists maintained by the publishers. This product (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SpreadsheetGear_for_.NET) is virtually unknown and is certainly less "widely used" than KDCalc, yet its article remains. Is there something specific about the the KDCalc article that makes it unacceptable? Some modification that would make it "merit inclusion"?
Thanks.
I didn't look at that one, and perhaps it should be nominated for deletion. Anyhow, just because another article currently exists, doesn't mean that it should be there.--Kungfu Adam (talk) 15:31, 18 August 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for checking Boston, Ontario on Google Maps. I was able to find it on a Canadian government site, Atlas of Canada http://atlas.nrcan.gc.ca , as an "unincorporated place". Userfy request

If you'd be so kind, I'd like to request that this article be userfied in my namespace. The author or major contributor is on a temp. wikibreak and wishes to work on it after he returns (K.V.). At that time I will be more than happy to move it to his own user namepace. Something like User:SynergeticMaggot/Hermetic alchemy would be fine. Thanks. SynergeticMaggot 23:18, 18 August 2006 (UTC)

Maurice Pratt

Hi, just noticed that you deleted an article on this man. Now I don't know what the actual content was, but he is/was managing director of Ireland's largest supermarket chain (Quinnsworth, now Tesco) and was quite the public figure from the advertising some time ago (no longer such a feature!) So I would question the non-notability, indeed (are you Irish? I am presuming not, or would would have heard of him!) -- Blorg 22:39, 20 August 2006 (UTC)

Addendum: he's now chairman of Bank of Scotland (Ireland). Here's a link outlining who he is: http://www.rte.ie/business/2000/1024/moneymakersvideo.html -- Blorg 22:49, 20 August 2006 (UTC)
The fact that I am not Irish doesn't have anything to do with me deleting the article. An editor nominated it for deletion in accordance to WP:PROD, and it was deleted. The problem with this article is that notability was never established. The article should tell us how this person is important, which your article doesn't.--Kungfu Adam (talk) 23:12, 20 August 2006 (UTC)

Block on User:Blameitonthebible

This user complained and appealed the block to unblock-en-l. The reason you gave for an indef block is "troll"; however, I see no postings that they may have made which would indicate they are a troll. The only post they made at all is the unblock request (malformed, but evident) to their talk page.

If there is some additional history somewhere, please provide a pointer to it.

If this is really a username block, please unblock and reblock with that reason so that we can tell them that.

Deletion of ThinkGeo entry

Kungfuadam,

I just discovered that the Wikipedia entry I wrote--ThinkGeo--has been removed. I would like to know the reason for the deletion of this entry. I am also interested in adding the entry back to the site if at all possible. If the problem has to do with the nature or content of the entry being too sales pitched, please let me know and I can certainly rewrite the entry to be more objective and biographical.

Deletion appeal

I want to know why Mixed Reality Event was deleted without notification to the page owner with only 5 days notice? Am I supposed to babysit any wikipedia page that I created? It had stood nearly a year with no moderation.

Please restore the page. If you have any questions, don't respond here because I'm not a wikipedia power-guru, contact me directly email redacted for privacy

I don't respond via email for my own privacy. The title you gave as such doesn't appear in the deletion log, so make sure you get the capitalization correct. I can say that WP:PROD allows for deletion within five days, and that is the process decided upon by the community. Hi, I haven't had a chance to get on Wiki lately, and when I did I noticed that an article I had written (Les Voyageurs Inc.) had been deleted. I was wondering as to what the reason was for this deletion. Thank you for your time. Newman2007 01:26, 21 August 2006 (UTC)

I don't understand how it's an advertisement or infringing on a copyright. I, myself was a "voyageur", and my uncle is the "Fred Rupp" mentioned in the website you sent me too. I was simply trying to inform people of this amazing program started by my uncle because it truly is life-changing. I looked at it, and it was speedily deleted before as a non-notable person. So I restored and deleted with the reason CSD A7, which means non-notable person. Just because they are a scholar, doesn't mean they merit inclusion in the encylopedia.--Kungfu Adam (talk) 11:03, 22 August 2006 (UTC)

Deletion Appeal

Kungfuadam, I'm curious as to why the page I manage (Rainfaux Studios) was deleted. There was no notification and I only found it when I went to update the page. Thanks for your time. Ceoblk 18:53, 22 August 2006 (UTC)

It was proposed for deletion on 1 Aug with the reason Non-notable production company. Unverifiable with no sources. 12 Google hits almost all of which are Wikimirrors.--Kungfu Adam (talk) 18:54, 22 August 2006 (UTC)
I have to respectfully disagree. While the group may not be notable, it exists nonetheless. The article also had a link to the company's website. I didn't think notability is a prerequisite for inclusion in Wikipedia. (forgot to sign) Ceoblk 19:35, 22 August 2006 (UTC)
Well we don't deny that it exists, but it is not notable enough for inclusion in the encyclopedia. Remember that this is an encyclopedia, not an advertising platform. You wouldn't expect to find something like this in a paper encyclopedia, would you?--Kungfu Adam (talk) 19:42, 22 August 2006 (UTC)
Seconding Adam here, existance alone doesn't make it important. Yanksox 19:43, 22 August 2006 (UTC)
The page concerned was informational and a source of group pride. The article was never designed or used as an advertising platform. And please don't use your second argument Adam. There is plenty in Wikipedia that would never be found in a paper encyclopedia. That's a great portion of its appeal; the free availability of information. As for Yank, I don't think you could be more wrong. Existence is important, regardless of what the object is, particularly in this sort of medium. The bottom line, Adam, is that you're an administrator and I cannot force you to do anything. Thanks for discussing the matter. -Ceoblk 20:19, 22 August 2006 (UTC)
Please check and read WP:CORP. If you feel that this page merits inclusion based on these criteria, you can appeal the deletion at WP:DRV--Kungfu Adam (talk) 21:54, 22 August 2006 (UTC)
Adam, this is exactly the guideline page that I've been trying to find. My big issue was that I couldn't find a set of qualifications for "notability". Thanks. -Ceoblk 22:08, 22 August 2006 (UTC)

Edit summaries when closing prods

Hi there. Related to the above issues with Transfersome, I wonder if I could ask you to use more informative edit summaries when closing prods? The edit summary you used here was: "closing prod". The guidelines at Wikipedia:Proposed_deletion#Procedure_for_admins say: "If you agree that the article should be deleted, delete it giving an informative deletion reason, such as that given by the nominator, not just expired prod.". It took me a long time to find the reason for deletion, and it would have been greatly appreciated if it had been in the edit summary. See also the discussion here. Deletion Appeal, Again

Hello, I recently contested the deletion of "Les Voyageurs Inc." and accepted it's fate as deleted. However, I was still upset that this program that has changed my life was considered a "blatant advertisement and copyright violation." I contacted the blogger of the website that I was so called "violating" (http://blogs.aviation.ca/index.php/steve.php/2006/06/16/ukn_regains_her_balance) and he said that I can use any content or pictures from his website that I chose (I can reproduce the correspondance if you deem necessary). I also would like to point out (as I read in a wikipedia entry for Company or Corporation notibility) that the organisation appeared in St. Cloud Times (MN) in 1994 in article about it being awarded the McKinght Foundation honor (I do not have the exact date the article was published). He (founder Fred Rupp) also appeared in a documentary (the date and likeness of which I can provide for you if given some time) about the program. In regards to the advertising, I don't see why you think I would need to advertise for a program that already has too many applicants and must turn some away. I would greatly appreciate it if you would give second thoughts to the qualifications of this article that has touched close to 1000 youths around the country. Also, if necessary, I can gather a group of individuals from the program to do a collaborative wirting.Newman2007 21:46, 25 August 2006 (UTC)

It's a protest

First, I'd like to say that I'm not a vandal, I'm not interested in vandalizing Wikipedia for I know how much valuable it is. This will be the last time I changed the Z for an S.

"O Brasil não conhece o Brazil" is a song about how foreign culture should not affect our culture. People here always tend to overvalue American and European cultures, forgeting their own roots, which is very sad. Not that the American and European culture are bad, I know their value and I respect and admire them very much. All I want is that the brazilians had corações instead of hearts. Just like me.

Restore My Article, Please

Hi, I found out from NickelShoe that you deleted my article on the Test of Memory Malingering, citing WP:OR. This was not my original work, and the reference page at the bottom, unless deleted maliciously by another user, clearly identified the original source of the research (in APA format). I would like you to please restore this article, as I had more work to do. Any other incompleteness was due to the fact that I have been extremely busy in school, and have not been able to attend to the article as I would like. As I pointed out to NickelShoe, I am not a scrub author or scientist; I am in a Doctoral Program for Psychology, and take any authorship very seriously. Thank you for your attention to this matter. Colbert accounts

Maybe I'm out of the loop here. When did we decide that we immediately indef block, without warning, accounts like User:Alberry, after one Colbert edit? —Bunchofgrapes (talk) 22:36, 26 August 2006 (UTC)

If you feel differently, you can unblock, but I thought the account was created for vandalism.--Kungfu Adam (talk) 22:39, 26 August 2006 (UTC)
Odds are it was. I'll just ask you to please think about easing up on the trigger finger and waiting for one warning or a good handful of vandalism edits from an account before blocking. The goal isn't to block as many people as possible, just to get the vandalism to stop, and very often it will stop on its own or after warning. Always remember blocking has a downside even besides the small chance that it will scare off someone who might become a good editor someday: collateral damage is a big problem too. —Bunchofgrapes (talk) 22:54, 26 August 2006 (UTC)

Age of Chaos

Further to my original enquiry to which you replied the article did not meet the "notability" requirement, I have researched to find "non-trivial published works whose source is independent of the site itself".

Are http://experts.about.com/e/a/ag/Age_of_Chaos.htm?zIr=5#r and http://www.answers.com/topic/age-of-chaos considered notable enough?

If so, please undelete the article.

WP:PROD says an article may be undeleted "on reasonable request". I consider this a resonable request.

The original article was linked to withiin wikipedia from three other articles:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Darkover_series

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Chris_Chittleborough/Text-based

it has since been deleted from

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_MMORPGs

I tried very hard to write the article in a factual manner so that it did not look like advertising. After extensive reading within Wikipedia I wrote to the game owner to get permission for the picture in the article to be used so as not to breach copyright.

I fail to understand what more I could do when I also researched the articles in the MMORPG list so that my article would have the look and feel of other Wikipedia articles.

This was my first published article of note and it does bother me that it has been deleted.

I mentioned previously that I did not know it had been tagged for deletion until it was too late. Had I not been so unlucky, I may have avoided this request for restoration altogether.

I ask again to please consider undeleting the article.

Done.--Kungfu Adam (talk) 15:36, 28 August 2006 (UTC)

I was under the impression that "prod uncontested" is not a valid reason for deleting a page. Today marks the second time in a month I have followed a link to an article you have deleted. Perhaps you need to rethink your willingness to delete articles in such a haphazard matter. If someone has taken the time to create an article then you should at least take a few moments to give a real reason for deleting it. Wikipedia doesn't belong to you any more than it does to the people who created the articles, so please have some respect for other users. --Joshd 09:24, 31 August 2006 (UTC)

Apgar Real Estate Score

Hi! Could you please explain why this article was deleted (on 8/15/06)? I developed this article for my client, Sandy Apgar, and he wants to know why it has disappeared and whether it can be undeleted. We are both new to the Wikipedia experience and would appreciate a response so we can improve our entries next time. LBell74.234.192.43 18:01, 31 August 2006 (UTC)

Adequacy.org

Why did you delete the Adequacy.org article? Adequacy is an important part in any discussion of the history of Slashdot trollers, along with Geekizoid.com, Slashdot and Kuro5hin. Please restore the article.

IThank you once again my friend. GIen

Please restore

Could you please restore the entries for "archmage (computer game)", "the five pillars (computer game)" or at lease explain why you deleted them?

Long-Overdue RfA Thanks from Alphachimp

Thanks for your support in my not-so-recent RfA, which was successful with a an overwhelmingly flattering and deeply humbling total of 138/2/2 (putting me #10 on the RfA WP:100). I guess infinite monkey theorem has been officially proven. Chimps really can get somewhere on Wikipedia.

With new buttons come great responsibility, and I'll try my best to live up to your expectations. If you need assistance with something, don't hesitate to swing by my talk page or email me (trust me, I do respond :)). The same goes for any complaints or comments in regard to my administrative actions. Remember, I'm here for you.
