Kuniyat
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Kuniyat is a traditional Arabic name taken by both men and women.
For example, if there is a man whose name is Ali, and his wife's name is Fatimah, after marriage their child is born, whom they name Hassan, and the second child as Hussain.
The traditional Arabic name (kuniyat) will be taken from the name of the eldest child. i.e. from the name of Hassan. From this the traditional Arabic name of Ali (i.e. kuniyat) will be Abu Hassan (meaning "Father of Hassan") and the kuniyat of Fatimah will be Umm-al-Hassan (meaning "Mother of Hassan").
This name is also given to men or women over their any quality or anything else.
This name is only taken from the name of the firstborn child.
