Kunimitsu (州光）is a character in the Tekken fighting game series. She made her first appearance in original Tekken as an unlockable character and sub-boss for Michelle Chang.

[edit] Tekken
Kunimitsu is known as "The Cat Devil". She was a former member of the Manji posse of ninja bandits led by Yoshimitsu. She lost her Japanese identity when she joined the group to maintain her anonymity. Upon joining, she was taught the skills of the stealth knife at the Manji ninja schools of "Jujutau". She stayed with the group for a few months, until a series of petty thefts from the band's funds led to her dismissal. At a loose end, she decided to train as a mechanic mending air conditioners.
She entered the first King of Iron Fist Tournament intending to steal a Native American treasure from a young brave (Michelle Chang). Kunimitsu, fearing the wrath of the vengeful Michelle, went into hiding.

Feeling humiliated, Kunimitsu sought solace with her grandfather. He was a swordsmith with a reputation. He informed Kunimitsu that the sword used by Yoshimitsu is a relic of unimaginable value. She learned that it was handed down through the Manji band and it had the power to sever an enemy both spiritually and mentally. The sword exchanges hands when a new leader is elected. The old leader is ritually sacrificed and the sword's power is transferred to its new owner. Kunimitsu's grandfather has spent his entire existence trying to forge a copy of the sword. Kunimitsu had to enter the second tournament to face and defeat Yoshimitsu and claim the sword so that her grandfather could make a copy before his death.
[edit] Tekken Tag Tournament
Kunimitsu has not yet appeared in another canon Tekken game, but did appear in Tekken Tag Tournament, a non-canonical game in the Tekken series featuring many characters from Tekken, Tekken 2, and Tekken 3. In Tekken Tag Tournament, she wore her Tekken 2 costumes, as well as a new outfit that looks strikingly similar to outfits worn by Taki in the Soul series. In Tekken Tag Tournament, her gameplay style is based on her Tekken 2 style, wielding just one dagger, unlike in the original Tekken, where she wielded two daggers (two sickles if she wore her alternate costume).
Note: Rumors swarming that Kunimitsu is returning to Tekken 6. It is not yet confirmed...

As well as this appearance, in Soul Calibur III, Kunimitsu can be created by using the "Create-A-Soul" option, and in Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection, Yoshimitsu can be modified to look like Kunimitsu.
[edit] Fighting Style
While sharing a lot of signature moves with Yoshimitsu, Kunimitsu's moves tend to focus more on the use of teleportation and unblockable attacks with her dagger. Kunimistu has a unique throw in Tekken Tag Tournament that can only be escaped by tapping a direction with the joystick, as compared to all other characters' throws which require button presses to escape.
