Kundi (tribe)

The Kundi (Urdu: کنڈی ) are a Pashtun tribe of Tank District in North-West Frontier Province, and also some parts of Balochistan, Pakistan. Their lineage links with the Marwat and Niazi tribes. [Mohammad Ishaq Khan Kundi] [[1]]Alig is one of the most famous member of the tribe in Tank. He was deputy speaker of West Pakistan Assembly (1962-1965).Mohd Ismail khan(brother of Ishaq khan kundi) Known as Parre Khan was a great Land lord in Tank.

Some other notable people from Kundi tribe are Abdul Kareem Khan Kundi (Former Chief Justice of the Peshawar High Court), Abdul Hakeem Khan Kundi (Former Vice Chairman of Pakistan Bar Council), Habib Ullah Khan Kundi is Former NWFP Provincial Minister).


Very recent well known personality from this tribe is Faisal Kareem Kundi, who gave a crushing defeat to Maulana Fazal-ur-Rehman in 2008 National Assembly elections. Faisal Kareem Kundi has been elected as the Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of Pakistan on March 19th 2008, jointly by PPP and PML(N).

A large number of kundi's are living in Amakhel. Amakhel is one of the most important village of kundi tribe.the well known personalities of amakhel is Rehmat ALi Khan Kundi (Head Master by Profession) but he is one of the most popular personality of social activities.

Amakhel has the population above 10,000.Also have civil hospital and Government Degree college for boys.Amakhel is also growing very fast in education and it has doctors and engineers.
