Kun (Islamic term)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Kun is an Arabic word referring to the act of manifesting, existing or being. In the Qur'an, Allah commands the universe to be ("kun!"), and it is (fayakun).
Whether the universe instantly existed or was created by Allah over six days (as is written in various passages of the Qur'an) is a matter of debate amongst Muslims. The discussion is further complicated by the modern deduction that the universe and earth are billions of years old.
