Kumori

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Kumori is the main character in Blade of Kumori, an ongoing title in the Aftermath line from Devil's Due Publishing. She is the lone daughter of an old samurai clan from Japan. Without the sponsorship of the lords whom they used to serve the family has changed their purpose to for-profit security and assassination.

One of Kumori's first assignments in the series is the killing of Cameron "Great White" White, a pulp-fiction-inspired urban adventurer. Her failure to do so and her developing feelings for White provide the context for the first few issues of the title.

Kumori was created by writer Ron Marz, also responsible for the Kyle Rayner version of Green Lantern. Art has been provided by artists Dub and Pierre-Andre Dery, both members of art studio Grafiksismik. Her title debuted in late 2004.

Like Devil's Due's other Aftermath titles, Blade of Kumori was put on hiatus. Originally, it was intended to be relaunched following an imprint-wide crossover that was slated to take place on Summer of 2005. However, the company ultimately deeemed any attempt to revive Aftermath properties financially unviable. Blade of Kumori has been in limbo ever since.
