Kumarpal (1143-1172 AD) was a famous ruler of Anahilavada (Patan). He belonged to Solanki branch of Chalukya clan.

He was a devoted disciple of the great Jain polymath Acharya Hemachandra.

Kumarpal was responsible for rebuilding the Somnath temple, replacing an earlier structure built largely of wood with one built using stone. He also built several Jain temples, including the temple at Taranga.

"Kumarpala Rasa" is one of several books describing the life of Kumarpal.

He had an elephant named "Shrikar".
