Talk:Kula

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Kula - in bulgarian means tower, in cyrilic "Кула", from the same root is the western bulgarian word for corn cob - "kulen" in cyrilic "кулен" probably because of the shape. In Bulgaria there are at least two towns with that name one of them on the border with Greece - "Kulata" direct translation is "The Tower" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kulata and one "Kula" at the north-western corner of the country. Probably the names come from the medieval fortification of the borders with castles and towers.
