Kulob Oblast was an administrative subdivision in Tajikistan.

Kulob (Tajik/Persian:Кӯлоб/کولاب) is a city in Kulob district, Khatlon Province, Tajikistan. It is the one of the largest cities in the country. It is the birthplace of both the current President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmonov, MD and successful businessman of Tajikistan Valiev P. and Canadian media entrepreneur Moses Znaimer.

Khatlon changed its name to Kulob in 1750[citation needed]. In 1921 Soviet Union rule was established in Kulob and it was an industrial center, known in Russian as Kulyab (Куляб).

In 2006 Kulob celebrated its 2700th anniversary.
