Trading post established in 1809 on Lake Pend Oreille in what is now North Idaho. Built by Finan McDonald through the direction of David Thompson of the North West Company. The trading post only survived for two years.

A town in a nearby area of Montana now bears a respelling of the name - Kalispell.
