Kuhn comes in contact with the main character, Haseo, through the growing AIDA infection that is afflicting The World R:2. He is a Steam Gunner and also the Epitaph-PC who controls Magus, the Propagation.

[edit] Character

Kuhn describes himself as more similar to Haseo than anyone else, despite Haseo's initial hostility towards him. Kuhn is light-hearted and brings laughter to the game players, but possesses the ability to remain calm and has an air of responsibility, especially towards Haseo's control of Skeith. His powerful long range attacks make him a perfect back-up to Haseo.

He takes responsibility for important issues like AIDA, and is friendly towards everyone he meets. Kuhn cannot help but have a lady in his arm in The World. He even mistakes a PC as a grown woman when she is only a grade schooler. Pi does not tolerate his actions, and he tries to hide it as best as possible lest he incur Pi's wrath. Despite Kuhn's weakness of female PCs, Kuhn can be sacrificing. However, getting further affectionate with Kuhn may tell some unexpected things.

Although Kuhn is a "chick magnet" online, Kuhn actually works at an arcade (though he has had many odd jobs in the past, including working at stores and fast food places) and is currently single.

[edit] .hack//G.U.

In the game, Kuhn is first introduced when Haseo and Atoli are teleported by Tri-Edge's Sign. They were teleported to a Lost Ground and see Endrance playing around with AIDA in his hands. After noticing the presence of Haseo and Atoli, Endrance leaves and an AIDA infects part of the area, targeting Atoli. To this, Kuhn makes his entrance and saves Atoli from being infected. Kuhn transforms into Magus to defeat the AIDA and invites Haseo to be part of G.U. when he realized that Haseo saw everything that had happened. Kuhn would later introduce Haseo to G.U. after they got back.

Kuhn weakness towards women is first shown to Haseo in the Central area of Mac Anu. Haseo was vending (much to his chagrin) until Kuhn came back from his "appointment." Kuhn was walking with two other female PCs and while talking to them using poetic talk, he slows down and notices Haseo with embarrassment. Haseo then rants about how Kuhn ditched the Avatar lessons for girls. Kuhn is then embarrassed and runs away saying that he will email everyone later. Kuhn's Avatar has the power to propagate data and escapes Berserk Skeith's Data Drain by this special skill. However, Kuhn made Haseo realize that Avatar use was dangerous and risky by putting himself in the risk of becoming comatose when he attempted to stop Skeith's rampage. Haseo saw that the Avatar could go out of control and do the same thing Tri-Edge did to Shino to others. Kuhn later assists Haseo to battle Tri-Edge when he, Haseo and Pi go searching for Atoli after she ran away at the emperor crowning ceremony.

[edit] .hack//Liminality

Before the events of .hack//G.U., Tomonari Kasumi, played The World as a character called Sieg and wanted to surpass Balmung of the Azure Sky. The name he chose, Sieg, referenced this desire as Balmung was the sword wielded by Siegmund in Ring of the Nibelung.

Tomonari was involved in a romantic relationship with Mai Minase, the heroine of .hack//Liminality, and during an attempt to introduce her to The World, they were attacked by Skeith and left comatose. Mai would awaken on her own and go on to find away to save Tomonari. Tomonari's friends from playing in The World, Yuki Aihara and Kyoko Tohno, would also join Mai.

As Sieg, he appears in .hack//Quarantine and the end of Liminality to aid Kite in the final battle against Morganna, and eventually awakens from his coma afterwards.

After the events of the Project .hack games, Mai eventually broke up with him because of his immaturity and he rues the fact he ruined what he considered his only real relationship.
