[edit] South African usage

Does anyone have a source for the South African slang term? JFW | T@lk 23:38, 13 October 2005 (UTC)
Yeah, I'm South African :P
There was a Jewish humour book published around 1980 in South Africa titled something like The Kugel and Bagel book, can't find the details online, but that would be a good printed reference. You can see examples of the terms in use at these links though: [1] and [2] Kuratowski's Ghost 22:54, 14 October 2005 (UTC)

I've removed the claim that the term is nearly identical to JAP. They are not. Kugel has come to be applied to both Jews and non-Jews, these days with most of the Jews having left SA, the term more often than not refers to non-Jews. Also JAP is negative and implies having been spoilt by wealth, while kugel is amusing and implies trying too hard to appear to be sophisticated. Kuratowski's Ghost 19:47, 26 February 2007 (UTC)
